Saturday, June 16th

Round 1 (8:00AM):
East Hartford 11, Canton 5. Megan Kennedy pitched a strong game for East Hartford, striking out six, walking two and allowing four hits. The defense was anchored by catcher Cassie Quattropani and shortstop Elizabeth Arpin. Stephanie Rogers and Kristina Burns contributed two hits apiece.
Enfield 10, Ellington 2. Cari Conley picked up the win, striking out five and walking four. Jenna Beverly was 3-3 with a single and a triple. Katie Krogmann went 2-3 and scored three runs. Emily Fillion scored for Ellington and Sam Harney reached base twice.
Round 2 (9:30AM):
Enfield 7, East Hartford 0. Enfield downed East Hartford 7-0, as Jenna Beverly tossed a no-hitter and was 2 for 2 at the plate. She walked six and struck out eight. Katie Krogmann hit a long 3-run homer. Cassie Quattropani reached base tmice for East Hartford and Kellie Saunders played a strong defensive game in right field.
Ellington 14, Canton 4. Ellington defeated Canton 14-4 behind winning pitcher Rachel Tshonas, who gave up only three hits. Grace Durgan and Alyssa Deland played well in the field with Christina DiStefano, Kailyn Lundeberg and Haley Browne all scoring two runs each.
Round 3 (11:00AM):
Ellington 4, East Hartford 0. Ellington beat East Hartford 4-0, with Rachel Tshonas scattering six hits and striking out four. Sam Harney played well at shortstop, had a great bunt, and scored one run. Annie Sawamura and Mackenzie Whiting each had one hit. Megan Kennedy again pitched well but took the loss for East Hartford and also had one hit in the game. Nicole Damaschi led their offense with a hit and a walk.
Canton 7, Enfield 6 (8 innings). Canton beat Enfield 7-6 in extra innings, with Sarah Benedetti pitching a complete game and recording seven strikeouts. Kiersten Kronschnabel (3-5, 2 runs), Christina Cardwell (3-4, run), Amanda Valley (3-4, 2 runs) and Benedetti (4-5, 2 runs) supplied the Canton firepower. Enfield's Cari Conley also went the distance and also struck out seven. Jenna Beverly hit two doubles and scored twice for Enfield.
Tuesday, June 19th
Ellington 10, Tolland 3. Winning pitcher Joanna DiStefano struck out nine, allowed just six hits and scored one of Ellington's runs. Annie Sawamura made two catches in the outfield and also scored a run. Catcher Aylssa Deland threw out two runners, had a base hit and scored a run. Alex D'Aloisio took the loss for Tolland, striking out eight and walking seven. Tolland's three runs were scored by Kelsey Arnet, Connor Crawford and Karen Duhamel, who also had one hit.
South Windsor 7, Coventry 0. South Windsor started the summer season with 3 quick runs in the first inning. Ann Marie Cerra had the key double to jump start the offense. Allyson Fournier was in midseason form, pitching a one-hit complete game, with Kaitlin Morton's single in the 5th breaking up the no-hit bid. Michelle Scanlon and Erin O'Brien led South's defense with several key plays at 3rd and 2nd. Alyson Stearns had a run-scoring double to center in her NCGSL debut. Coventry's Emma Polinski pitched well, settling down and giving up only two runs in the final five innings. Brittany Pietro and Marissa Boyer played well defensively.
Windsor 4, Enfield 2. Windsor opened their season with a 4-2 win over visiting Enfield. Both teams had solid defense and finely tuned pitching. Lauren Backhaus earned the win, striking out fourteen. Kaetlin Perry drove in two runs with a timely double and Aysha Mahmood had four assists at second base. Shawna Miller played well defensively at first base. Enfield's Becky Crank made a nice catch in right field and Jenna Beverly's defense at 3rd base stopped several Windsor hitters.
Somers 7, Vernon 0. (forfeit)

Wednesday, June 20th
East Hartford 10, Willington 3. (from 6/19) East Hartford was led by Rachel Dakin, who pitched an outstanding game, striking out ten and walking just two. The defense was led by catcher Cassie Quattropani, who threw out two runners, and first baseman Jess Kincman. Jess also added a double in the 6th inning. Megan Kennedy also had two hits. Charlotte Kelleher went 3-3 for Willington and Rebecca Kent tripled and walked. Colleen Ecsedy pitched a strong game but took the loss.
Thursday, June 21st
Somers 12, Willington 6. Somers bested Willington 12-6 with Sami Urbon pitching the complete game, notching 9 strikeouts and playing great defense. Allie Dubanoski led Somers' offense, going 3-3 with a homerun and two singles. Georgia Burke and Jessica Conlin had a great game behind the plate. Colleen Ecsedy pitched four geat innings for Willington and Charlotte Kelleher went 3 for 4 at the plate to lead the hitters.
Coventry 5, Tolland 2. In a game shortened to six innings by lightning, Coventry put together a 3-run 5th to defeat Tolland 5-2. Emma Polinski pitched a strong game, scattering six hits and walking three. She also went 3-3 at the plate, with a double and 2 RBI. Brittney Pietro and Ineke Vromans also chipped in with hits. Meghan Fowler and Nicole Uccello were the defensive standouts, each making several nice catches in the outfield. Mindy Sharon threw a strong game for Tolland, striking out 17 and giving up only five hits. The Tolland offense was led by Allison Whitlock (double, 1 run scored), Karen Duhamel (triple, RBI) and Kelsey Arnet (double, RBI).
Suffield 10, Windsor 2. Suffield's Angie Moskwa pitched a solid game, striking out 11 batters, and led the offense, going 2-3 and driving in three runs. Julie Muscarella had a 2-run triple and Alyssa Wagner scored two runs. Lauren Backhaus, after a shaky first inning, settled down and pitched a fine game. Kelly O'Brien scored both of Windsor's runs. Katie Dulz made several fine defensive plays.
West Hartford 10, Enfield 6. West Hartford defeated Enfield in a rain-shortened game. Zoe Mendal and Mallory Martucci each had triples for the winners. Danielle Stevens added a double and Caelese Brown and Natana Mann also contributed timely hits. Enfield was led offensively by Cheyanne Krogmann.
South Windsor 4, Ellington 1 - suspended by lightning; to be completed at a later date.
Vernon 2, East Hartford 2 - suspended by lightning; to be completed Thursday, August 2nd.
Canton at Granby (SBP) - rescheduled to Sunday, July 15th.
Tuesday, June 26th
East Hartford 12, Somers 6. East Hartford downed Somers in a very competitive game that seesawed back and forth until a 6-run rally in the 7th inning. Kellie Saunders (3 hits) and Jackie Damaschi (2 hits) led the East Hartford offense. Their defense was anchored by Nicky and Kristina Burns, who each made nice catches at critical times to stop potential rallies. Somers was led by the strong pitching of Sam Urbon, who struck out nine in 4 innings of work, and the clutch hitting of leadoff batter Kylen O'Hearn. Player of the game honors went to Somers catcher Camille Thomas, who went 2 for 3 with a double and played extremely well behind the plate.
Coventry 13, Willington 0. Josie LoRicco and Stephanie Morin combined to pitch a two-hit shutout as Coventry downed Willington 13-0. LoRicco had 8 strikeouts, two walks and allowed one hit in 5 innings. Coventry pounded out nine hits with LoRicco, Marissa Boyer and Kaitlin Morton leading the way with two hits apiece. Emma Polinski, Ali Hosey and Jennifer Dube chipped in with hits as well. Brittney Pietro and Marissa Boyer headed the Coventry defense. Pietro turned a spectacular unassisted double play at shortstop in the 6th inning and Boyer was solid behind the plate. Rebecca Kent and Lydia Bray had hits for Willington.
Vernon 8, Ellington 7. In a very close game, Vernon edged Ellington 8-7. Kassandra Wemmell led the offense with a 2-run homerun. Shantoy Miller and Ashley Barselau also had hits. Ellington's Joanna DiStefano pitched well and helped her cause with two hits. Alyssa Deland had a strong game behind the plate and also had two hits. Sam Harney also contibuted to the offense with a hit.
South Windsor 15, Tolland 5. South Windsor broke open a close battle with a 7-run 4th inning. A combination of walks and timely hits by Michelle Scanlon (triple), Anna Cerra, Chelsea Hebert and Aubrie Mazur led the rally. Tolland played hard and went ahead in the 1st inning with Brittany DeCarli driving in a run with a line drive to centerfield. Alex D'Aloisio pitched a complete games (6Ks) for the visitors. Kim Tanguay played well and added a long double to left in the 7th inning. South's Steph Rahm (triple), Julie Landino (defense in left field) and Alyson Stearns (3 runs) played well. Allyson Fournier kept the Tolland attack off balance by issuing only two walks and recording seven strikeouts.
West Hartford 22, Canton 14. Zoe Mendal paced West Hartford's attack with a homerun, double, single and 4 RBI. Mallory Martucci added two triples and Courtney Daley pitched three strong innings in relief to hold off a Canton rally. Natana Mann also pitched very well after a shaky first inning. Canton was led by Olivia Bonini, who had a double and two singles and caught a terrific game. Adrianne Kunkel had a double and a single and scored three runs.
Granby 9, Windsor 1. Granby U-14 finally got to play their first game and the result was a 9-1 win over Windsor. Nadine Foster and Katie Jones combined on a one-hitter and issued only two walks. Katie also had a triple and scored two runs. Angela Petrunti had a big RBI single and newcomers Anna Glassman and Rachel Horr also contributed offensively. Kaelyn Moore had the lone hit for Windsor.
Suffield 14, Enfield 13 (8 innings). It took 8 innings for Suffield to overcome a 3-run deficit and eventually beat a solid Enfield team 14-13. Suffield's Angie Moskwa relieved Samantha Guzzi to secure the victory. Hitting stars were Julie Muscarella (3 for 5 with a triple, double and single), Rachel Adelsberger (3 for 4 with an RBI) and Maggie Reeves (2 for 4 with the game winning RBI).Standouts for Enfield were pitcher Cari Conley, with 2 hits and 2 RBI, Ashley Reed (2 runs scored) and Jamie Wonderly (2 runs scored).
Thursday, June 28th
Tolland 16, East Hartford 1. The Tolland bats came alive, knocking out 11 hits, with Devin Feeney leading the offensive charge with 4 hits and 2 RBI. Connor Crawford and Sarah Gallichant chipped in with two hits each, while Kelsey Arnet scored three runs and Rebecca Tourtellotte scored twice. Mindy Sharon tossed a no-hitter in a 5-inning game, striking out 14, walking 3 and contributing with her bat by stroking two hits, including a 2-run triple, and scoring two runs. Karen Duhamel caught the no-hitter. East Hartford's Shannon Klock and Nicky Burns both had good game on defense.
South Windsor 14, Somers 4. South Windsor's offense continued to heat up, scoring runs in all but one inning. Jenna Borrman (2 hits, 1 double), Allyson Fournier (3 hits), Steph Rahm (3 hits) and Anna Cerra (3 hits) led the team to victory. Aubrie Mazur pitched a strong game, giving up 3 hits and striking out eight in a 6-inning stint. She also contributed on offense with a long triple in the 6th inning. Michelle Scanlon continued her torrid hitting with 4 hits, capped by a double blasted to left center in the 6th. Somers played excellant defense, led by several fine plays at shortstop by Amanda Parker. Kylen O'Hearn made a fine stop on a line drive to left field, holding the batter to a long single. Emily Vanasse chipped in with stellar defense at second base.
Enfield 11, Granby 4. Enfield defeated Granby by the score of 11-4 behind another strong pitching performance by Jenna Beverly, who struck out 10 and walked six. Kaitlyn Krogmann was 3-4 and scored three runs. Stacy Kraucunas was 2-3 and drove in four runs. For Granby, Anna Glassman went 1-2 with a sac and Angela Petrunti played a solid game defensively with many assists.
Suffield 8, West Hartford 2. Angie Moskwa won her third game for Suffield, pitching seven strong innings, striking out 13. She helped herself at the plate, going 2 for 3 with a walk. Gina DiPrato went 2 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored. Julie Muscarella was 1 for 2 with 2 walks, scoring 3 runs. For West Hartford, Zoe Mendal had a hit and scored both WH runs. Natana Mann had a pair of hits and Shannon Davis played well on defense.
Canton 10, Windsor 5. Monique Gauthier went the distance for Canton, striking out 13, in the 10-5 win over Enfield. Deanna Nappi (3-4, 2 runs), Emily Goeler (3-3, run) and Stephanie Gauthier (3-3, 3 RBIs, 2 runs) led the Canton hitting attack. Lauren Backhaus, with 8 Ks, took the loss for Windsor. She helped herself at the plate with a double and a run scored.
Ellington 18, Coventry 13.

Tuesday, July 3rd
South Windsor 11, Vernon 2. South Windsor played a strong game against Vernon. It was a close game until a 7-run third inning outburst by the winners. The combination of a patient eye and timely hitting, led by Sami Sutay, Susan Morton, Allyson Fournier (4 hits) and Michelle Scanlon created the run support. Sara Carpenter and Jill Eitelman pitched well for Vernon. Courtney Lyons made some good stops at shortstop for the defense. Ashley Barselau, Alyssa McDonald and Hillary Moody chipped in with excellant play throughout the contest. Chelsea Toce powered South's hitters with a triple and made two excellant plays on bunts while defending third base. Tori Thomson (2 hits), Jenna Borrman (double) played well. Allyson Fournier scattered five hits and posted seven strikeouts in a consistant effort in the circle.
Suffield 9, Granby 3. Division-leading Suffield improved to 4-0 with a 9-3 win on the road against Granby. Angela Moskwa pitched a complete game, striking out 15. Julie Muscarella went 2 for 3 with a triple and an RBI. Sarah Dallaire came through in the 7th inning with a 2-run single. Granby catcher Anna Glassman went 2 for 3 and Laura Hart played a strong defensive game, keeping the score close until late in the game.
Windsor 5, West Hartford 4. Windsor pitcher Lauren Backhaus was on fire, striking out 17 WH batters, allowing only four hits, and going 2 for 2 at the plate. Allison Mendola's huge triple in the 7th inning put her into position to score the deciding run on Hannah Moller's hit. West Hartford's Lianna Pevar made her debut on the mound, keeping Windsor scoreless for 4 innings. Mallory Martucci and Carrie Corrigan hits doubles for West Hartford.

Thursday, July 5th
Coventry 10, Somers 5. In a game that featured 23 hits and 26 runners left on base, Coventry downed a fiesty Somers team by the score of 10-5. Josie LoRicco pitched a strong game for Coventry, striking out four and yielding no runs, 4 hits and 6 walks in four innings. Somers threatened to score in every inning but stranded 14 runners on base. The Coventry defense made the right plays at the right times, including a double play by shortstop Emma Polinski in the 4th inning and an unassisted double play by first baseman Stephanie Morin in the 5th inning. Coventry pounded out 12 hits with Ali Hosey (3 hits), Maria Vromans (3 hits) and Emma Polinski (2 hits) leading the way. Somers was led by the stellar defense of catcher Jessica Conlon and by the key hitting of Liz LaVallee, who had a double, RBI and a run scored.
South Windsor 15, Vernon 3. South scored quickly and registered seven runs in the first inning. Allyson Fournier led off with a hit and Michelle Scanlon drove her in with a solid triple to left. Key hits by Tori Thomson and Chelsea Hebert kept the inning alive. Vernon played hard through a rough start and chipped in with runs in the 5th and 7th innings. Sara Carpenter played well, with a triple and three fine innings of relief pitching. Ashley Barselau made a standout defensive play, reacting quickly to a line drive back to the circle. Courtney Lyons had a good game, with a hit and steady defense at short. Shantoy Miller played well defensively at catcher. Aubrie Mazur pitched an efficient game for South, striking our four and allowing 3 hits and 2 walks in five innings. Erin O'Brien (2 hits) followed with two fine innings of relief. AnnaMarie Cerra had a homerun in the second and Chelsea Hebert and Sami Sutay supplied solid defense in the game.
Suffield 7, Granby 2. Both Suffield and Granby played excellant defensive games through the raindrops. Gina DiPrato went 1 for 1 with two walks, Taryn Scozzari was 2 for 3 and Alyssa Wagner went 1 for 3. All three players scored two runs each, with Wagner scoring on a dropped third strike. For Granby, Kristin Watterlond and Katie Jones each had a hit and scored a run.
Windsor 16, West Hartford 12. The bats were swinging tonight and both teams had solid hits flying all around the field. Windsor's Kelly O'Brien took home her first win in the circle. Allison Mendola and Lauren Backhaus both went 4 for 4 at the plate with two RBIs. Shauna Greene and Shawna Miller each had doubles for Windsor. West Hartford made a great comeback in the 5th inning, closing the score to 15-11. Their offense was led by Zoe Mendal (homerun, double), Caelese Brown (2 triples) and Natana Mann (double).

Sunday, July 8th
Granby 2, West Hartford 0. (from 6/19) Granby and West Hartford played a close game, with Granby squeaking out a 2-0 win. Katie Jones, Nadine Foster and Bethany Grupp combined for the shutout for Granby. Kelsey Walsh led the Granby offense with two hits and drove in Bethany with the winning run in the 4th inning. Natana Mann pitched a complete game for West Hartford, giving up only three hits, and also contributed offensively with two hits. Shannon Davis also had two hits for West Hartford. Both teams played very well defensively, but the standout was Bridget Manning, who played shortstop for West Hartford.
Tuesday, July 10th
South Windsor 17, East Hartford 10. South's bats performed well in the summer heat. Michelle Scanlon (3 hits, 3 runs), Tori Thomson (double) and Erin O'Brien (3 hits) led the offensive attack. Aubrie Mazur pitched a strong game for South Windsor, recording nine strikeouts and allowing three runs on a hot humid evening. Chelsea Hebert had the play of the game with a long 3-run homerun to left in the 5th inning. East Hartford had a strong 7th inning, stringing together three hits and several walks to rally for six runs in the final frame. Cassie Quattropani, Shannon Klock and Jackie Damaschi played well.
Willington 6, Coventry 5. Willington was led by Colleen Ecsedy, who pitched a solid game, striking out six and walking three batters. Colleen was backed by a strong defense with key catches by Emma Perugini, Riley Provencher, Alyssa Varrier and Ellen Cercena. Charlotte Kelleher had the game winning RBI-triple, sending Devon Asselin home for the deciding run. Coventry's pitcher, Stephanie Morin, pitched a complete game, striking out seven batters. Maria Vromans hit a powerful double.
Granby 15, West Hartford 7. The Granby bats finally came alive in a 15-7 win over West Hartford. Granby had nine hits, four in a 7-run 3rd inning. Kristin Watterlond and Rachel Horr led the way with two hits each. Kelsey Walsh reached base three times and scored each time. Mallory Martucci, Caelese Brown and Carrie Corrigan led the very powerful hitting attack for West Hartford with Caelese and Carrie each contributing triples. West Hartford never gave up, scoring 4 runs in the top of the 7th inning.
Suffield 19, Canton 4. Samantha Guzzi notched her first win for Suffield, scattering four hits over 6 innings in an impressive pitching performance. Suffield hitters Guzzi, Julie Muscarella, Gina DiPrato, Maggie Reeves and Rachel Adelsberger had RBIs in a total team effort. Newcomer Kacey Gifford went 1 for 2 and scored twice. Christina Cardwell, Elise Minichiello, Rose Minichiello and Jillian Goeler each scored runs for Canton.
Windsor 10, Enfield 3. Windsor's Kaelyn Moore pitched the 10-3 over Enfield. Lauren Backhaus went 3 for 3 at the plate with a double. Shawna Miller and Shauna Greene both had doubles with two RBIs. Defensively, Meredith Atwater made a great catch in right field. Katie Dulz and Aysha Mahmood combined for six assists. Standouts for Enfield were Cori DeLorge, Jenna Beverly and Stacey Kraucunas.
Tolland 10, Somers 2. Mindy Sharon held the talented Somers batters to two hits (Emily Vanasse's single and Camille Thomas' double) over seven innings, while striking out 14 and going 2 for 3 at the plate. Tolland's offense was once again paced by Kelsey Arnet, going 2 for 4 at the plate, with Connor Crawford, Shaina Carter and Brittany DeCarli offering up key hits. Devin Feeney added to her collection of team leading RBIs. Somers pitcher Sammie Urbon was very impressive, striking out 10 Tolland batters. Teresa Garlick and Erika Dubanoski had good games in the field for Somers.

Thursday, July 12th
Suffield 9, Windsor 5. Angela Moskwa and Kasey Gifford combined to pitch Suffield to a 9-5 win over Windsor. Julie Muscarella went 3 for 3 with 2 RBIs, Taryn Scozzari had a hit and 2 RBIs and Angie Moskwa went 2 for 2 with a walk and two runs batted in. Kaetlin Perry, Shauna Greene, Hannah Moller, Kaelyn Moore and Kelsey Ballard all scored runs for Windsor.
Granby 9, Canton 2. Granby continued their winning ways with a strong 9-2 victory over Canton. Their pitching trio combined on a 3-hitter with only three walks. The offense was led by Kristin Watterlond, Katelyn Sayles (3-3) and Nadine Foster, who combined for six hits and 7 RBIs, with Foster hitting a bases-loaded triple in the 2nd inning. Liz Mutch had two hits for Canton, while Rose Minichiello pitched a complete game. Meghan Davis made an unassisted double play to end a big Granby scoring threat in the 4th inning.
East Hartford 15, Willington 5. East Hartford opened up an early 11-3 lead behind the strong hitting of Cassie Quattropani and Kellie Saunders, who each went 3 for 4. Nico Damashi had a key sacrifice bunt to get the rally started. Rachel Dakin pitched six strong innings, striking out nine and allowing only three hits. Megan Kennedy closed out the game, striking out three and allowing just one hit. The defense was led by catcher Shannon Klock, who threw out three runners. Colleen Ecsedy, who came in to pitch for Willington in the third inning, struck out nine and allowed three hits. Rebecca Kent and Alyssa Varrier led the Willington offense.
Tolland 13, Ellington 12. Tolland climbed back from three runs down to win in the bottom of the seventh with a walk to Rebecca Toutellotte, bunts by Alyssa Valenti and Shaina Carter and hitting by Kelsey Arnet, Devin Feeney, Karen Duhamel and the game winning RBI by Kim Tanguay. Ellington players Christine Spartz, Grace Durgan and Marin Cleary rallied their team in the top of the 7th to break a tie game and take a three run lead.
South Windsor 18, Coventry 3. In a game that was much closer than the final score, South's bats exploded for 11 runs in the 6th inning. Coventry played tremendous defense throughout the game. In the first inning, Coventry's Kaitlin Morton led off the grame with a single and scored, helping to three quick runs. South's offense responded with five runs as Sami Sutay and Alyson Stearns came through with key hits. South pitcher Allyson Fournier settled down and did not allow another hit during the contest. Jenna Borrmann, Chelsea Toce, Aubrie Mazur (triple) and Erin O'Brien supplied solid hits. Tori Thomson's catching kept the Coventry running attack at bay by gunning down a runner at 3rd base in the 6th inning to stop a potential rally. Coventry's Kaitlin Morton, Jennifer Dube and Ineke Vromans made exceptional catches in the outfield.
West Hartford 9, Enfield 6. Trailing 6-2 in the 2nd inning, West Hartford battled back with solid defense and timely hitting. Second baseman Zoe Mendal made the play of the game, ranging far to her left to make a leaping catch of a ball headed down the right field line. Valerie Hackett and Jill Lohneiss also had outstanding games defensively. Mallory Martucci paced the offense with a triple and a single. Zoe Mendal added two hits, Bridget Manning doubled and Caelese Brown tripled. Katie Krogmann had two doubles for Enfield and Jenna Beverly pitched a solid game.
Somers 8, Vernon 5. Sam Urbon had another strong night in the circle for Somers. Hailee Stetson, Kayla Stetson and Allie Dubanoski played a great defensive game. Hailee and Allie also had good nights at the plate for Somers. Vernon played a great game, taking the lead away from Somers in the middle of the game. Sarah Carpenter pitched a solid game for Vernon and Megan Gardiner came up big with her defense.
Friday, July 13th
Somers 10, Coventry 8. (from 7/3) Somers pulled out a nail biter against Coventry 10-8. Jessica Conlin celebrated her birthday with two hits and a great game on defense behind the plate. Ainsley Wilson scored two runs for Somers and Emily Vanasse's range and speed at second base played a big role in stopping a Coventry comeback. Sam Urbon pitched well, earning the win with another complete game. Josie LoRicco pitched a good game for Coventry, keeping them in contention until the final out and Marissa Boyer was impressive behind the plate. Coventry's offense was led by Brittney Pietro's triple and Stephanie Morin's double.
Tolland 16, Willington 6. (from 7/3) Leading Tolland to their fourth victory in a row, Alex D'Aliosio threw a complete game, one-hitter, striking out sixteen, while chipping in with two hits and an RBI on offense. The Tolland hitters came out swinging the bats with Brittany DeCarli leading the way with three hits, a walk and three runs scored, while Devin Feeney (RBI), Alyssa Valenti, Mindy Sharon (2-RBI triple), Karen Duhamel (RBI), Alyssa Yavis (3 RBI) and Shaina Carter (double) each contributed two hits, Colleen Ecsedy led the Willington offense with an RBI-double and two runs scored, and Lydia Bray reached safely twice and scored each time. Colleen Ecsedy pitched well but took the loss, striking out four.
Sunday, July 15th
Granby 10, Canton 9. (from 6/21) Granby eased past Canton 10-9 as Laura Hart drove in Kristin Watterlond with the winning run in the bottom of the 6th inning. Kelsey Walsh and Kristin each had three hits, while Desi Piette scored three runs. Adrianne Kunkel scored two runs for Canton, and Kiersten Kronschnabel and Elise Minichiello each doubled and scored. The coaches would like to thank all of the guys who tried in vain to get Salmon Brook Park playable after the deluge, then moved everything to the high school to make that field playable.

Tuesday, July 17th
East Hartford 13, Canton 4. East Hartford played a flawless defensive game, led by their outfielders. Centerfielder Giggles Arpin made three running catches with runners in scoring position to keep the game close early. Rachel Dakin pitched a complete game, allowing six hits. Arpin, Dakin, Cassie Quattropani and Nicky Burns collected three hits apiece to pace the offense. Canton had many scoring opportunities but got robbed of base hits. Kiersten Kronschnabel and Meghan Davis reached base safely three times to lead the Canton offense. Play of the Game honors went to Canton second baseman Rose Minichiello, who leaped to snag a line drive and turn a double play with the bases loaded.
Granby 16, Vernon 3. After a slow start and giving up three runs in the first inning, Granby settled down and beat Vernon 16-3. Vernon started the game strong with their first three hitters, Shantoy Miller, Ashley Barselau and Jill Eitelman each singling and scoring. Granby's Bethany Grupp settled down, allowing no additional hits through the next three innings and Katie Jones finished the game, pitching to the minimum nine batters, striling out seven in the last three innings. Granby's offense was led by Desi Piette, who went 3-4, including a homerun, and scored three times. This was a total team effort as 11 of the 12 Granby players scored at least one run each.
West Hartford 19, Somers 5. West Hartford got three hits apiece from Zoe Mendal, Bridget Manning and Carrie Corrigan and two hits from Caelese Brown, Mallory Martucci, Megan Keith and Jessica Dufault to lead the 19-hit attack. Courtney Daley settled down and pitched well after a shaky start to pick up the win. Somers had some outstanding defensive play from first baseman Allie Dubanoski and their offense was led by Jessica Conlon with a double.
South Windsor 10, Coventry 6. South Windsor remained undefeated by winning a close game against a tough Coventry team. South Windsor was led by Erin O'Brien (3 hits, 4 stolen bases), Anna Cerra (2 hits), Michelle Scanlon (2 hits), Alyson Stearns (2 hits) and Tori Thomson (2 hits). Winning pitcher Aubrie Mazur pitched a complete game, striking out seven. Coventry was led by Maria Vromans (2 hits), Marissa Boyer (3 runs) and Nicole Uccello, who played great defense in the outfield. Losing pitcher Josie LoRicco pitched seven strong innings against a tough South Windsor offense.
Suffield 13, Willington 4. Suffield continued their winning ways, with Samantha Guzzi and Kasey Gifford combining to pitch an outstanding game for Suffield. Julia Muscarella went 3-4 with a homerun. Samantha Guzzi went 2-3 with a triple and a walk. Taryn Scozzari 2 for 3. Outstanding players for Willington were Colleen Ecsedy, who pitched and reached base twice, and Devon Asselin, who made all three defensive outs for Willington in one inning.
Ellington 21, Enfield 4. Ellington's Rachel Tshonas pitched a great game, holding Enfield to just 4 hits, getting a base hit herself and scoring a run. Shortstop Kirsten Clemens knocked in three runs on a 6th inning homerun to right field. Jenna Beverly and Katie Krogmann each had two hits for Enfield.

South Windsor 12, Vernon 4. South Windsor defeated Vernon 12-4, with the South offense collecting 16 hits. They were led by Sami Sutay (3 hits), Aubrie Mazur (triple, double), Chelsea Toce (2 hits), Allyson Fournier (2 hits) and winning pitcher Erin O'Brien, chipping in with two hits and four stolen bases. Vernon was led by a strong game by pitcher Sarah Carpenter. Hillary Moody and Shannon Fish were standouts on offense.
Somers 12, Willington 7. Somers scored in every inning and defeated Willington 12-7. The Somers defense was led by catcher Georgia Burke, who caught the entire game. In the 3rd inning, she caught a foul ball behind the plate and fired to first, catching the runner off guard to record the double play. Aubrey Brink made some key defensive plays at third base and pitcher Sam Urbon recorded ten strikeouts in five innings. Liz Lavalle had two hits and scored three runs. Kylen O'Hearn went 3 for 3 and showed her speed running the bases. Nicole Proulx scored three times for Willington. Colleen Ecsedy pitched a great game and Charlotte Kelleher came on in relief and struck out five.
West Hartford 13, Canton 10. West Hartford took an early 9-2 lead and then held off a late Canton charge to preserve the win. Courtney Daley pitched the entire game, striking out ten Canton batters. Mallory Martucci had a triple and three runs batted in for West Hartford. Christina Cardwell and Sarah Benedetti shared the pitching duties for Canton and combined for ten strikeouts. Benedetti had a triple and Olivia Bonini added two hits.
Suffield 10, Enfield 1. Suffield's Angie Moskwa came one passed ball on a strikeout away from a perfect game and had to settle for a no-hitter. Julie Muscarella skyed her second homerun of the week, this one well over the centerfield fence at Whitt Acres Park, and had a total of 3 hits in 4 at bats. Taryn Scozzari also went 3 for 4. Jenna Beverly pitched a fine game early for Enfield, but was forced to come out as pitcher when she was shook up in a collision at home plate. Cheyenne Krogmann played an outstanding defensive game.
Windsor 9, Granby 4. Windsor's Lauren Backhaus took the win, striking out ten. She also went 3-4 at the bat with 2 RBIs. Kelly O'Brien went 4 for 4 and Kaelyn Moore had a 2-run double early in the game to give Windsor the lead. LaRessa Tessier had a 2-run single and a great triple down the left field line. Granby's Bethany Grupp and Katie Jones combined for nine strikeouts. Jones also scored a run and Katelyn Sales had two hits, including a double.

Ellington 9, Willington 7. Ellington beat Willington 9-7. Grace Durgan had two hits and scored two runs. Haley Brown and pitcher Joanna DiStefano both had a single and scored a run. Rebecca Kent and Emma Perugini both played well for Willington.
Vernon 9, Coventry 8. In s very exiting overtime game, Vernon was able to score two runs in the bottom of the 8th inning to take the win. Coventry led by four until the bottom of the 5th, when Kassandra Wemmell, Elissa Graf, Ashleigh Welchman and Dylan Piacenta had hits and Taylor Kurowski had a 2-run double to give Vernon the lead by two. Shantoy Miller had an outstanding double play at shortstop to hold Coventry to only one run in the 7th, where the game was tied. Jillian Eitelman pitched a solid five innings for Vernon and Ashley Barselau had two strong innings in relief. For Coventry, Brittney Pietro had two hits, including a solo homerun. Josie LoRicco, Nicole Uccello and Stephanie Morin also helped out with hits. Kaitlin Morton played outstanding defense at shortstop and also contributed a hit. Emma Polinski pitched a strong game for Coventry, and helped her cause with a pair of hits.
South Windsor 18, Tolland 2. Tolland came out strong, scoring in the first inning with key hits by Kelsey Arnet and Devin Feeney. South's Allyson Fournier settled down and pitched well, striking out seven and allowing only two more hits and two walks over 5 innings. South Windsor came right back with three runs in the first with Anna Cerra's homerun starting up the offense. Tori Thomson (double & triple), Michelle Scanlon (triple) and Allyson Fournier had the hot bats during the contest. Tolland, while shorthanded, played hard with Kim Tanguay, Sara Gallichant and Rebecca Tourtellotte playing excellant defense. Mindy Sharon pitched a complete game, striking out seven.
Suffield 13, West Hartford 8. West Hartford came out strong and had undefeated Suffield on the ropes, as Natana Mann initially kept Suffield's hitters off-stride. Suffield eventually broke the game open through a combination of singles and walks. Samantha Guzzi came on in the 7th in relief of Angie Moskwa to close out the victory. Alyssa Wagner and Taryn Scozzari also had strong games. The hitting star of the game was West Hartford's Caelese Brown, who had a homerun, triple and double in three at-bats. Bridget Manning went 2-3 for West Hartford.
Granby 8, Enfield 3. Granby pitchers Nadine Foster and Katie Jones combined to limit Enfield to four hits, striking out five. Katie Jones also contributed two hits, including a bases-loaded triple. Addie Koehler played great defense for Granby, making a running catch in centerfield and an unassisted double play at second base to end the game. For Enfield, Katie Krogmann had two hits and scored a run and Jamie Wonderlie played solid defense.
East Hartford 12, Somers 11. East Hartford came back from a four run deficit in the bottom of the 6th inning to edge Somers in a game that had six lead changes. Cassie Quattropani led off the inning with a double and Niko Damaschi, Megan Kennedy and Stephanie Rodgers followed with singles. Shannon Klock and Sierra Gonzalez each reached base safely four times in the game. Somers got their bats going early, scoring 4 runs on 4 hits by Erika Dubanoski, Allie Dubanoski, Jessica Conlon and Ainsley Wilson in the first inning. Liz LaVallee started a 6th inning rally that led to five more runs. The Somers defense was led by pitcher Sam Urbon. East Hartford's Rachel Dakin settled down after the first inning and allowed only two hits over the next five innings. Megan Kennedy secured the win with a strong performance in the seventh inning. Play of the Game honors went to third baseman Cassie Quattropani, who made a spectacular play to rob Erika Dubanoski of a hit with no outs and the bases loaded.
Windsor 7, Canton 6. Kelly O'Brien earned the win for Windsor, with relief help from Lauren Backhaus, who allowed just one run and struck out seven. Offensively, Shauna Greene went 3-3 with a homerun, Allison Mendola had a double and RBI and Kaetlin Perry tripled. Canton's relief pitcher, Sarah Benedetti, cooled off the Windsor bats, striking out nine, and went 3-3 with a triple and an RBI on offense. Liz Mutch doubled for Canton in the 4th inning.
Thursday, July 26th
Vernon 16, Willington 10. Vernon was able to jump out to an early lead and hang onto it throughout the game. Sarah Carpenter pitched well for four innings and helped herself out with a 2-run triple. Shantoy Miller was strong on offense with a single and a double. Megan Gardiner also helped out with two hits. Jillian Eitleman was strong on defense in centerfield. For Willington, Ellen Cercena had a good night with two hits and two runs scored. Colleen Ecsedy pitched in with a double and a single. Strong baserunning from Lydia Bray added three runs for her team.
Ellington 14, Coventry 7. Maria Vromans went 3-4 with a triple to lead Coventry's offense. Brittney Pietro had three hits, including a homerun, and scored three runs. Also playing well were pitcher Emma Polinski and shortstop Kaitlin Morton. Rachel Tshonas picked up the win for Ellington, striking out nine, and contributed two hits on offense. Also playing well for Ellington were Annie Sawamura, Christina DiStefano, Christine Spartz and Emily Fillion.
South Windsor 18, Somers 3. Aubrie Mazur paced South Windsor with a solid 5-inning, complete game pitching performance, while adding two hits and three runs scored in the contest. With accurate pitching, only two walks, South's infield defense was solid with fine plays from Steph Rahm, Michelle Scanlon and Chelsea Hebert. Somers' Allie Dubanoski played an excellant game, with solid defense at first and crushing a homerun in the 4th inning. Georgia Burke chipped in with great defense behind the plate and Erika Dubanoski had a solid hit and scored a run in the 4th inning. Camille Thomas contributed smooth defense at shortstop during the game. Erin O'Brien (4 hits, 3 runs), Michelle Scanlon (2 doubles) and Nicole Sylvester's bases-loaded single in the 4th led the potent South Windsor offense.
Canton 7, Enfield 6. In a very close game, Canton topped Enfield 7-6. Enfield got off to an early lead, scoring five runs in the first two innings against Canton starter Kiersten Kronschnabel. Sarah Benedetti came on in relief for Canton in the 3rd inning and slowed the Enfield bats, striking out six and allowing just one run. Offensively, Olivia Bonini abd Sarah Benedetti each had two hits for Canton. Enfield's Cori DeLorge, Katie Schienda and Nicole Meunier all had hits and also stood out defensively.
East Hartford 7, Tolland 4. East Hartford edged Tolland, despite being outhit 10-4. East was able to get out of trouble by making big defensive plays with runners in scoring position. Giggles Arpin, who turned two double plays, both with bases loaded and no outs, had a great game at shortstop. Megan Kennedy pitched a complete game, surrendering only two walks, to lead the East Hartford defense. Shannon Klock and Kellie Saunders each reached base safely three timesa to lead the offense.
Windsor 10, West Hartford 7. Kaelyn Moore earned the win for Windsor, with Kelly O'Brien and Lauren Backhaus appearing in relief. Backhaus went in to close and had two RBIs at the plate. Kaetlin Perry made the catch of the game in right field. Sharon Grimshaw, with 2 RBIs in the top of the 7th, clinched the game for Windsor. Danielle Stevens' bases-loaded triple in the first inning gave West Hartford the early 5-4 lead. Pitcher Courtney Stevens settled down after the first inning and went the distance for West Hartford. Mallory Martucci went 3-3 at the plate, leading the WH hitters.

Suffield 8, Windsor 4. Suffield's Angie Moskwa outdueled Windsor's Lauren Backhaus, with both pitching superbly through six innings. The Suffield offense was sparked by Julie Muscarella (4-4, 3 RBI), Angie Moskwa (2-4, 3 RBI) and Gina DiPrato (2-4, 2 RBI). Kelly O'Brien, Lauren Backhaus, Sharon Grimshaw and Kaelyn Moore all scored runs for Windsor.
South Windsor 26, Willington 3. Erin O'Brien pitched a fine game and contributed to South's offense with three hits. Steph Rahm and Anna Cerra powered the hitting attack with a homerun each. Playing shorthanded, Willington played hard with excellant defense from Rebecca Kent and Nicole Proulx . Ellen Cercena scored two runs and Rebecca Kent had a solid RBI-single in the 2nd inning. South's Julie Landino (2 hits), Nicole Sylvester (triple) and Michelle Scanlon, who just missed hitting for the cycle in four at-bats, supplied the key hits for South.
Tolland 10, Vernon 7. Kelsey Arnet (2-4, double) and Kim Tanguay (double) once again led the Tolland team to victory with solid gloves, hot bats and determined teamwork behind the plate. A key double in the 5th inning by Arnet knotted the game at 6-6, while Tanguay capitalized with a beses-loaded 2-run double in the top of the 7th to ice the victory. This was the second game-winning hit by Kim Tanguay in the last two weeks. The Vernon batters fought back in the bottom of the seventh to make it a nail-biter, loading the bases with none out. Mindy Sharon and Alex D'Aloisio combined to pitch a 2-hitter, striking out twelve. Elissa Graf reached base safely twice and scored a run. Sarah Carpenter and Jill Eitelman pitched a great game for Vernon, with Kassandra Wemmell playing well defensively.
Ellington 6, Somers 5. Joanna DiStefano earned the win for Ellington. Chelsea and Kailyn Lundeberg led the Ellington defenders. Sami Urbon pitched well for Somers, but took the loss. Allie and Erika Dubanoski played well on defense for Somers.
Granby 6, West Hartford 5. West Hartford scored two runs in the bottom of the 7th inning, and had the winning run on base, but Granby's defense was able to stop the scoring threat and hold on for the win. Granby pitchers Katie Jones and Nadine Foster combined to limit West Hartford to three hits, striking out ten. Kelsey Walsh and Jennalee Kulig each contributed two hits and a run scored. West Hartford's Caelese Browm continued her offensive show with a triple in the 4th inning, and Courtney Daley scored two runs.

Tolland 7, Granby 2. (from 7/19) The pitcher/catcher tandem of Mindy Sharon and Karen Duhamel led the Tolland defense to a 7-2 victory over the Granby team. While Karen was solid behind the plate, she also contributed two base hits and two RBI. Mindy tossed a complete game 2-hitter, striking out 13, a helping her team with a hit and two walks, scoring twice. Brittany DeCarli (RBI) had another multi-hit game, while Sarah Gallichant and Alyssa Yavis also contributed big hits. The Granby team was led by the defense of Desi Piette and Jennalee Kulig, while Bethany Grupp hit a long double and Katelyn Sales chipped in with a base hit. Katelyn and Addie Koehler scored the Granby runs.
Vernon 14, Willington 12. (from 7/15) Vernon had to battle a persistant Willington team to win the game 14 to 12. For Vernon, Taylor Kurowski continued her hitting streak with three hits, driving in two runs. Elissa Graf had an RBI-double, as did Dylan Piacenta. For Willington, Devon Asselin had two hits and two RBIs, Nicole Proulx was very strong on defense and Colleen Ecsedy was strong in the circle.
Suffield 16, Canton 2. (from 6/19) Suffield and Canton danced through the raindrops, in a game shortened by rain and darkness. Samantha Guzzi pitched well for Suffield, scattering 3 hits over 4 innings. Hitting stars for Suffield were Angela Moskwa, Taryn Scozzari and Emma Kubetin. Standouts for Canton were Kiersten Kronschnabel and Meghan Davis.
Monday, July 30th
Tolland 9, Windsor 8. (from 7/17) Alex D'Aloisio pitched Tolland to a 3-1 lead into the 5th inning, but was under tremendous pressure by the aggressive bats and baserunning of the Windsor offense as Tolland went down 8-3 going into the 6th inning. The Windsor defense was tough to score on, stranding seven Tolland baserunners in the first three innings. With Mindy Sharon quieting the Windsor bats with 5 Ks and no-hit relief in 2+ innings, the Tolland hitters staged a dramatic 2-out rally in the bottom of the 7th inning, scoring six runs for the 9-8 victory. Sarah Gallichant had the defensive play of the game with a superb catch of a long drive off the bat of Windsor's Allison Mendola, while adding three hits and scoring twice. Alyssa Yavis chipped in with two hits and two walks. Windsor's Meredith Atwater and Kaiya Hill played great defense, while Aysha Mahmood snagged a few sharply hit balls at second base. Kelly O'Brien pitched well and Shauna Greene showed off an amazing bat by turning a few tough pitches into hard-hit shots.
West Hartford 11, Ellington 2. (from 7/23) Natana Mann and Courtney Daley combined to pitch an outstanding game for West Hartford, allowing only four hits. Mallory Martucci had a triple and single while Bridget Manning and Caelese Brown chipped in two hits apiece. Ellington pitcher Joanna DiStefano did a terrific job to keep the game close. McKenzie Whiting had a nice game behind the plate and Grace Durgan led the offense with a long double.
Coventry 8, East Hartford 5. (from 7/27) Stephanie Morin (6IP,8H,2BB,4Ks) earned the win as Coventry came from behind with a 5-run 6th inning to defeat East Hartford 8-5. Emma Polinski drove in the tieing run with a triple to left field and then scored the go-ahead run. The Coventry offense was led by Kaitlin Morton (2-3, double), Marissa Boyer (2-3, triple) and Josie LoRicco (2-3, double). The defensive play of the game was made by Meghan Fowler, who threw out a runner at first base from right field to end an East Hartford threat. Megan Kennedy pitched a great game for East Hartford, striking out 11 and walking just one. Cassie Quattropani and Shannon Klock led the hitters with two singles each.
Tuesday, July 31st
South Windsor 5, Enfield 4. (from 7/19) South won a close, well-played game by both teams. Aubrie Mazur was very consistent in the circle, with eight strikeouts and giving up only one walk in 7 innings. Nicole Sylvester and Chelsea Toce had long doubles in the game. Enfield's Nicole Meunier (defense), Jamie Wonderly (single & double) and Jenna Beverly (taking away several bunts at 3B) played well. South pushed across the winning run in the top of the 7th inning during a 2-out rally. Three consecutive hits, capped by Tori Thomson's single, gave South the edge it needed. Enfield threatened in their half, started by Wonderly's double. She was left stranded at third base with some fine defense by Tori Thomson (catcher) and Steph Rahm at shortstop.
Suffield 8, Granby 0. (from 7/26) Angela Moskwa pitched seven strong innings and went 2-2 with a walk. Julie Muscarella also went 2-2, including a triple. Maggie Reeves had a double in two trips. Pitchers Nadine Foster and Bethany Grupp, and shortstop Kristin Watterlond were standouts for Granby.
Tolland 13, Coventry 4. (from 7/20) Coventry's Brittany Pietro (2-3, 2 runs) led off the bottom of the first inning with a long double, followed by Ali Hosey's base hit, which brought Coventry within two runs. Alex D'Aloisio (5 IP, 6 Ks) then took charge from the circle and led Tolland to a 13-4 road win. The Tolland offense was led by the red-hot bats of Kim Tanguay (3-4, 2 triples, 3 runs, 5 RBI) Brittant DeCarli (3-4, 4 runs & solid defense) and Mindy Sharon (2-4, 2 runs scored). Mindy closed out the game by pitching two no-hit innings, fanning four. For Coventry, Emma Polinski pitched 5.2 innings and Maria Vromans played a solid third base.

Vernon 12, Ellington 10 (8 innings). (from 7/10) In another exciting extra-inning game, Vernon was able to end Ellington's last attack to take the win in the 8th inning. For Vernon, Sarah Carpenter pitched strong in all 8 innings and helped out on offense with two hits and an RBI. Ashleigh Welchman played strong defense at second base and had a 2-run single in the 8th inning. Megan Garder was solid behind the plate for 4 innings and also helped in the 8th with an RBI-single. Rachel Tshonas pitched well for Ellington and added to her effort with a hit. Joanna DiStefano did well in relief and also had a hit and 2 RBIs. Sam Harney was strong on offense in the leadoff spot, with a single and a double for the night.

Tolland 15, Willington 0. (from 7/5) Tolland pitchers Mindy Sharon (2 IP, 6 Ks, no hits), Alex D'Aloisio (2 IP, 5 Ks, no hits) and Jessica Olson (2 IP, 5 Ks, 2 hits), along with catcher Kim Tanguay, combined to pitch a 6-inning shutout to end the regular season with a 15-0 win over Willington. Tolland hitters Tanguay (2-3, 2B), D'Aloisio (HR), Sarah Gallichant (2-4) and Brittany DeCarli led the offense. Colleen Ecsedy led the Willington team, pitching a complete game, while Alyssa Varrieur and Lydia Bray picked up hits.
Windsor 8, Coventry 7. (from 7/19) Coventry took an early 7-1 lead into the 3rd inning on Maria Vromans' and Marissa Boyer's RBIs and Josie LoRicco's shot to centerfield. Coventry's excellant defensive play kept the Windsor offense at bay, with Vromans taking away an extra-base hit on a backpeddling catch of a deep fly ball. Windsor's Katie Dulz started in the circle, with relief help from Kelsey Ballard (making her debut) and closer Kelly O'Brien. The Windsor defense turned a double play with Shauna Greene snagging a line drive and throwing to Shawna Miller at first to get the runner. The Windsor bats finally came alive in the final two innings with Kaetlin Perry and Greene each driving in two runs. Allison Mendola and Sharon Grimshaw drove in the tieing and winning runs.

South Windsor 11, Ellington 1. (completion of 6/21 game suspended by lightning).
