2009 U-14 SCHEDULE and GAME SUMMARIES

Tuesday, June 16th
Somers 12, Tolland 2. Great season opener for Somers, defeating Tolland 12-2. Tolland came out strong in the first inning with their leadoff batter, Katie Akerley, reaching base with a single. She later scored the first run that inning for Tolland and then again in the 3rd inning thanks to Kierra Laramie's RBI-single. Amanda Noble also hit a nice double in the 4th inning. Sami Urbon pitched the first three innings for Somers and Kylen O'Hearn closed the game, holding Tolland to just two runs. Kayla Renaud had a good night at the plate, going 3 for 3. Somers, as a team, displayed outstanding defense and base running.
Simsbury 1, Granby 0. Simsbury defeated Granby 1-0 as Emma Gailey pitched seven strong innings and struck out eleven. The leading hitters for Simsbury were Alex McDermott and Maggie Gauthier.
West Hartford 12, Enfield 0 (4 innings). West Hartford pitchers Charlotte Moller and Lianna Pevar did not allow a hit in their team's win over Enfield. Both players had a solid night at the plate as well, as Pevar had an RBI-single and scored two runs, while Moller had a hit and also scored twice. Colleen Corrigan was the defensive standout for West Hartford at second base. For Enfield, third baseman Olivia Baillargeon made a couple of nice plays on balls hit her way, and shortstop Shannon Cherpak also played well defensively.
Suffield 15, East Windsor 0. Kacey Gifford, Lexi Pallotti and Ann Boucher combined to no-hit East Windsor in a game shortened by the mercy rule. East Windsor, playing its first game in the league, got off to a rough start but improved each inning as the game moved to its conclusion.
Willington at East Hartford - rescheduled to Thursday, July 9th (to be played at Willington).

Friday, June 19th
Vernon 10, Coventry 1. Kaitlyn Lajoie pitched a no-hitter, striking out ten, as Vernon defeated Coventry 10-1. Meg Gardiner and Anna McCain we standouts on offense. Coventry was led by Eileen Zadrozny, Nicole Uccello and Stephanie Morin.
South Windsor 11, Glastonbury 3.
Granby at West Hartford - rescheduled to Monday, July 20th.
Tuesday, June 23rd
Vernon 2, East Hartford 1. Vernon edged East Hartford 2-1 behind Kaitlyn Lajoie, who pitched the win, striking out 15. Morgan Skoly drove in the deciding run in the bottom of the 8th inning. Laura Skoly also had a good game for Vernon. Megan Kennedy, Amanda Santiago and Shyla Boutilier played well for East Hartford.
Glastonbury 3, Somers 2. Dana Meixell of Glastonbury and Sami Urbon of Somers hooked up in a tremendous pitcher's duel with Glastonbury scoring single runs in the 6th and 7th innings to pull out a 3-2 win. Meixell gave up just two hits and recorded 10 strikeouts. Kelly Oscarson had a clutch two-out single to tie the score in the 6th. In the 7th, Brittney Clark led off with a bunt single, stole second and advanced to third on a single by Cassidy Longo. Katie Marchetti plated the winning run with a hard grounder to shortstop. For Somers, Allie Dubanoski and Christa Drummey had hits and catcher Hailee Stetson played well defensively and threw out a runner attempting to steal.
Granby 4, Enfield 3. Taylor Rogers' walk-off double plated Aubrey Koehler with the winning run to give Granby a 4-3 win over visiting Enfield. Erin Walsh pitched out of a one-out, runners on 2nd and 3rd jam in the top of the 7th to keep the scored tied. For Enfield, Dallas Fonck pitched a strong game, while Alyssa Barone played well defensively at second base.
Canton 9, Simsbury 7. In a well-pitched game by both teams, Cristina Cardwell went the distance for Canton and Emma Gailey for Simsbury. Canton went ahead 9-7 in the top of the 7th inning and then held off Simsbury for the final three outs to get the win. Great infield play by Rose Minichiello and Katherine Winsor led the Canton defense.
West Hartford 27, East Windsor 1. Charlotte Moller and Lianna Pevar combined for their second straight no-hitter for West Hartford. Moller also had two hits and drove in two runs. Colleen Corrigan had two hits, two RBI and scored three runs. Noelle Ouellette hit well and scored three runs. East Windsor played hard throughout the game. Allison Rodrigue scored a run and Noelle Wig was a standout on defense.
Windsor at Suffield - rescheduled to Friday, June 26th (BP).
Wednesday, June 24th
Canton 14, Windsor 4. In a tight game through 4 innings, Canton pulled ahead with ten runs in the 5th inning. Windsor's 3rd inning was highlighted by a 2-run homerun out of Dyer Field by Allison Mendola. Canton's defense was strong, with a well-executed pickle play between third and home in the 3rd and a double play in the 4th. Sam Bosse got Canton off to a quick start with a 2-run single in the 1st, and finished with a game-high 4 RBI.
Coventry 10, Glastonbury 1. Coventry evened their record with a 10-1 victory over Glastonbury. Eileen Zadrozny pitched a solid game, striking out 12 in 6 innings. Jennalee Dupuis went 4 for 4 at the plate. Lots of athletic play from Glastonbury third baseman Delaney Kehoe wowed the crowd, assisted by a strong bat from teammate Cassidy Longo.
Thursday, June 25th
East Hartford 5, Somers 1. East Hartford played strong, defeating Somers for their first win. Megan Kennedy was the winning pitcher. Shyla Boutilier, Megan Kennedy and Amanda Santiago each got a hit and Rebecca Harvey played great defense at first base. For Somers, Kim White had a great game at second base. Allie Dubanoski and Sami Urbon both doubled to lead the Somers hitters.
Coventry 5, Willington 2. Coventry recorded its second win over Willington. A strong pitching duel between Stephanie Morin for Glastonbury and Josie Borysevicz for Willington came down to a couple of key hits. Jessica Voros doubled and tripled for Coventry, with help from Lindsay Williams. Sara Rupp hit two singles and a double for Willington. An honorable mention goes to Willington left fielder Emma Borysevicz for a diving catch into the weeds that had both teams cheering.
Suffield 2, Granby 0. Behind strong pitching from Lexi Pallotti and Allie Moreno, Suffield defeated Granby 2-0. The game ended on an unassisted double play by Sophie Garber. Granby had a strong defensive effort led by catcher Megan Shultize.
Windsor 5, Enfield 2. Molly Parker earned the win for Windsor, striking out 15 Enfield batters. Laressa Tessier led the offense with two runs batted it. For Enfield, Shannon Cherpak led Enfield, driving in both of their runs and playing well at shortstop.
South Windsor 20, Tolland 1.
Friday, June 26th
Windsor at Suffield (from 6/23) - rescheduled to Friday, July 17th.

Sunday, June 28th
Simsbury 10, West Hartford. Simsbury defeated West Hartford 10-2. Maddy Pranaitis pitched six strong innings with 8 strikeouts. Simsbury had 16 hits in the game. Haley Tieje led the offense, going 4 for 4 and scoring three runs, and closed out the game in relief in the circle. Jamie Kalogeros had three hits and Alex McDermott and Laura Yablecki each had two hits. Simsbury played all around solid defense as a team. West Hartford's Colleen Corrigan had two hits and Cassidy Grinsell played great defense.
East Hartford 4, South Windsor 3. (from 7/2) East Hartford's pitching was shared by Olivia Gonzalez and Megan Kennedy while catching was shared by Brianna Garay and Shyla Boutilier. Sierra Gonzalez, Amelia Rodriguez and Kristen Charest has hits for the winners. Megan Kennedy scored the winning run on a passed ball. Alyson Stearns and Arielle Thomas had hits for South Windsor.
Monday, June 29th
Canton 16, East Windsor 0. East Windsor pitcher Julia Matteson pitched a complete game, with only three walks, and the team finished strong with a 1-2-3 final inning. Jillian Goeler pitched a one-hitter for Canton and had the highlight hit of the game - a foul ball off the roof of the police station, then hitting the roof of a parked cruiser. Every Canton player scored at least one run. Amber Batan, Lindsay Sugar, Sam Bosse and Katherine Winsor all had multi-hit games. Canton played strong defense as a team, committing no errors.
Willington 20, Tolland 1.
Tuesday, June 30th
Somers 4, South Windsor 3. Somers edged South Windsor 4-3 in a tough game. Ainsley Wilson went 2 for 2 and Allie Dubanoski hit a 2-run homer that proved to be enough offense for Somers to get the win. Emily Vanasse also had a hit and provided stellar defense at third base. South pitcher Brooke Stoker closed down Somers' late threat with three straight putouts. Kelly Sivo and Katie Strong also played well for South Windsor.
Vernon 18, Tolland 1. Chrissy Pettengill homered to lead Vernon past Tolland. Michelle Correia and Dylan Piacenta also had good nights at the plate for the winners. Kiarra Laramie, Alayna Zevallos and Courtney Akerley played well for Tolland.
Glastonbury 1, Willington 0. Another great pitching duel in Glastonbury as Lindsey Musco from the home team Heat and Sam Malecki from Willington both threw 1-hitters and had 7 strikeouts. Musco's first inning RBI-single scored Delaney Kehoe, who had walked and stole two bases, with the only run of the game. Tremendous defensive support from Jackie Phillips, Cassidy Longo and Kelly Oscarson kept the shutout intact. Emma Borysevicz had a hard lined single for Willington's only hit.
Coventry 5, East Hartford 4. Coventry edged East Hartford 5-4 in an exciting pitchers' duel between Coventry's Eileen Zadrozny and Megan Kennedy for East Hartford. Coventry took a 3-1 lead into the 6th inning when East Hartford pushed ahead 4-3 with timely hits and aggressive baserunning from Kennedy and Shyla Boutilier. Jess Voros hit a two-run homerun in the bottom of the 6th to give Coventry the lead. Awesome game played by all the girls.
Granby 16, East Windsor 3. Austin Ebersole had two doubles to lead the Granby hitters. Megan Nilson had two hits as well and played solid defense behind the plate for Granby. For East Windsor, Maggie Karwowski had two hits and Julia Matteson pitched well.
Simsbury 10, Suffield 0. Simsbury defeated Suffield 10-0 after 5 innings. Emma Gailey pitched well through the five innings, striking out three. Simsbury had ten hits for the game, led by Alex McDermott (2 hits, 2 runs) and Laura Yablecki (2 hits). Taryn Braz added a hard line drive double. Catcher Yablecki threw out two baserunners attempting to steal second base and Braz made an outstanding catch at first base. Jordan Gowdy made several outstanding plays at shortstop. Simsbury displayed all around great defense.
West Hartford 4, Windsor 3. West Hartford came back from an early three-run deficit to defeat Windsor in a hard-fought game by both teams. Allison Mendola's two-run single keyed a Windsor rally that put them up 3-0 in the first inning. West Hartford starter Charlotte Moller then settled in and pitched two scoreless innings, followed by four shutout innings by Lianna Pevar. Jessilyn Hartman delivered the game's clutch hit, an RBI-double that plated the go-ahead run in the bottom of the 5th inning. Sarah Allen was the defensive standout for West Hartford at catcher, as she threw out multiple baserunners attempting to steal. Mary Deneen pitched an excellant game for Windsor, striking out seven batters in four innings of work.
Canton 9, Enfield 4. Emily Neddermann and Christina Cardwell combined for ten strikeouts and no walks to lead Canton past Enfield. Jess Falzone and Amber Batan pulled off a double steal of second and home. Katherine Winsor continued her steady play at shortstop, making four straight assists in the 1st and 2nd innings. Enfield hitters Alyssa Barone and Samantha Wilder both hit doubles to the outfield fence and then came aound to score.

Thursday, July 2nd
Simsbury 5, Windsor 4. Simsbury defeated Windsor 5-4 at Welch Park. Simsbury was led by pitcher Maddie Pranaitis' five innings of no-hit ball, surrendering only one run. Offensively, Kelly Knisel drove in three runs and Liz Poggio and Emma Gailey contributed two hits each. Windsor was led by pitcher Molly Parker's 8 strikeouts and LaRessa Tessier's 2-run double.
West Hartford 8, Suffield 1. Becky Hoisl led West Hartford past Suffield with two hits, three runs scored and stellar defensive play at shortstop. Catcher Amanda Augustinsen also provided big plays on defense, gunning down two Suffield baserunners on attempted steals. Molly Swanson made several nice plays and pitched a terrific 7th inning to close out the win. Angelica Banning led the Suffield offense with two hits, and Allie Moreno pitched well, striking out six over three innings.
Canton 12, Granby 8. Rose Minichiello set the theme for the game - going 2 for 2 with 2 RBIs, while playing a steady #2 position under harsh weather conditions. 2 Canton players had doubles and Amber Batan started a double play from 2nd base. Granby's Taylor Rogers had 2 hits and Samantha Arnone pitched well, giving up just 2 walks. Lindsay Suger caught a deep fly to left off the bat of Megan Nilson and then the 2 umpires declared the field "2 wet 2 continue" so the 2 teams shook hands and departed.
South Windsor at East Hartford - rescheduled to Sunday, June 28th.

Vernon 11, Somers 5. Vernon downed Somers 11-5 behind strong play by Dylan Piacenta, Dee Cashman and Laura Skoly. For Somers, Allie Dubanoski, Marissa Farly and Emily Vanasse played well.
Simsbury 14, East Windsor 0. Simsbury defeated East Windsor 14-0 in four innings. Haley Tietje led Simsbury, throwing four innings of no-hit ball. Offensively, Simsbury was paced by Laura Yablecki's 2 for 2 and 3 RBIs and Jamie Kalogeros' 3-run triple.
East Hartford at Glastonbury - rescheduled to Sunday, July 12th (at East Hartford).

Thursday, July 9th
West Hartford 8, Enfield 5. The pitching committee of Molly Swanson, Charlotte Moller, Noelle Ouellette and Lianna Pevar led West Hartford past a tough Enfield squad 8-5. Cassidy Grinsell was the offensive standout for West Hartford with a hit, an RBI, two runs scored and a terrific first-to-third steal on a passed ball. Sam Wilder had a double and a run scored for Enfield, While Cheyanne Krogmann delivered two hits and drove in two runs.

Friday, July 10th
Glastonbury 8, Coventry 5. Glastonbury came back from an early 4-1 deficit, with the big blow coming from a bases-clearing 3-run double by Delaney Kehoe in the 5th inning. Lindsey Musco scattered four hits, with seven strikeouts, and shut down the tough Coventry hitters after the first inning. Mary Howard smoked a double and a single, Katie Connelly had two hits, Courtney Chowaniec a hit and two RBI and Kelly Oscarson a hard single to lead Glastonbury. Jess Voros ripped a long double and scored two runs, and Jamie Harvey and Kaila Parsons also excelled for Coventry.
Willington 6, South Windsor 0 (1st game) Willington topped South Windsor in the first game of a doubleheader 6-0. Josie Borysevicz pitched a one-hit shutout, recording eleven strikeouts for the win. Offense was provided by Emma Borysevicz (3 hits, 3 runs scored), Morgan Stewart (2 hits, 2 RBI) and Erica Tremko (2 hits, 1 run scored). Standouts for South Windsor were Kristina Wanat, who recorded seven strikeouts and had the lone hit, a long double, and Brooke Stoker & Danielle Benito, who also played well.
Willington 7, South Windsor 6. (2nd game) Willington had to come back from 3 runs down to defeat South Windsor 7-6 in the second game of a doubleheader. After two innings, South was up 4-3. In the 4th inning, they scored another two runs to make it 6-3. Willington answered in the bottom of the 4th with a pair of runs to close to 6-5. In the top of the final inning, Sam Malecki struck out two SW hitters and another was caught stealing to keep the score at 6-5. In the bottom of the inning, Erica Tremko and Josie Borysevicz both singled to start the inning. A walk loaded the bases, then Sarah Rupp lined a shot over the centerfielder that scored two runs to give Willington the 7-6 win. Emma Borysevicz stayed hot with a hit and two runs scored for Willington. Danielle Benito scored two runs and made several nice plays in the outfield for South Windsor. Brooke Stoker pitched well and Kristina Wanat had another big hit, a triple in the 3rd inning.

Monday, July 13th
Willington 7, Vernon 1. (from 7/28) Willington pitcher Josie Borysevicz held Vernon to one hit and recorded twleve strikeouts for the win. The Willington offense was led by Tracy Aforismo (2 hits, 2 runs), Sarah Rupp (2 hits, 1 run) and Maggie Kryznel (1 hit, 1 run). For Vernon, Sarah Carpenter, Allie Newhall played well and pitcher Kaitlyn Lajoie recorded the lone hit.
Tuesday, July 14th
Glastonbury 7, South Windsor 4. Liz Corporale's 2-run single was the big hit in a 4-run 6th inning that broke open a close game for Glastonbury. Ashley Maher, Lindsey Musco and Delaney Kehoe each added two hits and Jackie Phillips and Camille Cutler also had clutch hits for Glastonbury. South Windsor was led by Brooke Stoker and Allison Stearns, who both doubled and scored runs, and also received excellant overall play from Aubrey Wood.
East Hartford 11, Tolland 3. East Hartford's pitching was shared by Megan Kennedy and Olivia Gonzalez. Rebecca Harvey, Amanda Santiago, Gonzalez and Kennedy had hits for the winners. Tolland's Amaria Sharon pitched a complete game. Hayley Provost and Erika Sturgis played well the entire game for Tolland.
Simsbury 5, Enfield 2. Simsbury defeated Enfield by a score of 5-2. Taryn Braz pitched seven solid innings and, as a team, Simsbury hit the ball hard. Lindsey LoStimolo made an outstanding defensive play at third base. Enfield played well and hit the ball hard. Pitcher Dallas Fonck had a nice game in the circle and made a great catch on a line drive hit back up the middle. Sam DelConte also had a nice defensive game for Enfield at shortstop.
Suffield 3, Canton 1. Suffield defeated Canton 3-1 in a well-played defensive struggle. Allie Moreno led the way, giving up one run in six innings. Kacey Gifford came in to close it out in the seventh.
Vernon 9, Coventry 1. Vernon downed Coventry 9-1. Chrissy Pettengill drove in three runs and Laura Skoly had three hits. Meg Gardiner and Allie Newhall each had two hits. Kara Saunders, Jenn Duvio and Stephanie Morin played well for Coventry.
Willington 5, Somers 1. (1st game; from 7/1) Maggie Kryznel, Sara Brunette and Josie Borysevicz combined to hold Somers to two hits in a 5-1 win in the first game of a doubleheader. Willington took a 1-0 lead into the 4th inning, then broke it open scoring four times in that inning. Somers scored their run in the bottom of the last inning after Julie Folger singled, stole two bases and then scored on a single by Marissa Forty. Erica Tremko had a hit and scored twice to lead the Willington offense in the opener.
Willington 5, Somers 1. (2nd game) Josie Borysevicz pitched a 1-hitter and held Somers to one run for another 5-1 victory in the second game. She also scored Willington's first run with some heads-up baserunning in the bottom of the 1st to tie the game. In this game, the 3rd was the big inning for Willington, scoring four times. Erica Tremko (2 hits), Maggie Kryznel, Alexa Manaskie and Sara Brunette all scored to make it a 5-1 game. The Willington defense held on for the win. Somers was led by Allie Dubonoski, who tripled and scored in the 1st inning. Christa Drummey was another standout on defense for Somers.
West Hartford 16, Granby 1. Charlotte Moller led West Hartford past Granby with a terrific all-around game. She earned the win in the circle and also led the offense with three hits and two runs scored. Sarah Allen continued her hot hitting streak with a double, an RBI and two runs scored and Laura Hamilton chipped in with a 2-run single to lead a big 2nd inning rally. For Granby, Erin Walsh had a leadoff double and scored a run, and Lauren Holt belted a long triple.

Windsor 2, Granby 1. (from 7/7)
Thursday, July 16th
Coventry 9, South Windsor 5. Coventry's Eileen Zadrozney struck out ten and earned the win. Jaime Harvey led the offense with two doubles and Kelly Foley was strong on defense. South Windsor was led by Kelly Sivo's triple, along with the strong play of Liz Earle and Arielle Thomas.
Somers 6, Glastonbury 3. Somers edged Glastonbury in the bottom of the 4th inning. They rallied in the 6th inning, thanks to Hailee Stetson's leadoff single and two beautiful bunts by Teresa Garlick and Ainsley Wilson, all three scoring to secure Somers' 6-3 win. Samantha Urbon pitched a great game, striking out 14. Dana Meixell also pitched a great game for Glastonbury. Jackie Phillips scorched a double and scored the first Glastonbury run and Cassidy Longo drove in a run in the 7th inning. Both teams played a great game defensively.
Willington 25, Tolland 2. Willington's Erica Tremko, Josie Borysevicz and pitcher Sam Malecki contributed offensively for a 25-2 win over visiting Tolland. Haley Durost and Haley Provost each had a hit and played well for Tolland.
Simsbury 8, Canton 4. Simsbury defeated Canton 8-4. Christina Cardwell (Canton) and Emma Gailey (Simsbury) both went the distance in the circle. Simsbury staged a 6-run rally in the top of the 7th inning, highlighted by Jamie Kalogeros' double off the left field wall followed by another double by Taryn Braz. Allie Davis also added two hits for Simsbury. Sam Bosse had a nice game at third base for Canton.
West Hartford 16, East Windsor 0. Molly Swanson and Noelle Ouellette combined to pitch the shutout for West Hartford, with Ouellette recording five strikeouts in just two innings of work. The offense was led by Becky Hoisl, with two hits and two RBI, and Caroline Karanian with two hits and three runs scored. Laura Hamilton had the hit of the game with an RBI-triple in the 3rd inning. Allison Rodrigue had a nice hit for East Windsor, and Julia Matteson pitched well.
Granby 3, Enfield 3 (tie). Granby and Enfield played to a 3-3 deadlock in a game called due to darkness. For Enfield, Cheyanne Krogmann, Liz Rogers and Sam Wilder each had two hits. Dallas Fonck allowed just three hits and struck out four. Elyse Perron had a hit and played well for Granby. Erin Walsh had a hit and pitched the last three innings, recording strikeouts on 7 of the 9 outs.
Windsor 4, Suffield 3.

Friday, July 17th
Willington 12, Glastonbury 0. (from 7/23) Willington pitcher Josie Borysevicz allowed two hits and recorded nine strikeouts for a 12-0 shutout of visiting Glastonbury. She also contributed to the offense with two hits and two runs scored. Maggie Kryznel (2 hits, 1 run) and Tracey Aforismo (double, 2 runs scored) led the Willington offense. Delaney Kehoe had two hits for Glastonbury. Mary Howard and Brittney Clark also played well for Glastonbury.

Vernon 8, East Hartford 2. (from 7/16) Vernon defeated East Hartford by a score of 8-2. Sarah Carpenter, Laura Skoly and Chrissy Pettengill led Vernon to the win. Amanda Santiago, Rebecca Harvey and Kristen Charest played well for East Hartford.
Monday, July 20th
West Hartford 5, Granby 4. (from 6/19) West Hartford rallied for two runs in the bottom of the 7th to come from behind and defeat Granby 5-4. Granby jumped ahead 4-1 with four runs in the 3rd inning, led by a big RBI-hit by Megan Nilson. West Hartford was able to get two runs back in the bottom of the 3rd with a clutch 2-run double by Amanda Augustinsen. Granby's Courtney Ahrens and West Hartford's Lianna Pevar then locked up in a great pitcher's duel the rest of the way, with each team playing strong defense to hold the score at 4-3. With two outs in the bottom of the 7th, West Hartford's Caroline Karanian laid a perfect bunt down the third base line to score Becky Hoisl with the tieing run. After Karanian stole second, Noelle Ouellette delivered a single to right field to plate the winning run and finish off a great game by both teams.
Somers 4, Coventry 2. (from 7/2) Coventry started off great in the first inning, scoring two runs. Nicole Uccello had a good game at the plate and Kara Sander made an awesome tag at home to take away the go-ahead run from Somers in the 3rd inning. Stephanie Morin pitched a solid game for Coventry. The Somers defense held Coventry for the rest of the game for the 4-2 win. Teresa Garlick and Marissa Forti played great defensively, making some key outs for Somers. Samantha Urbon pitched very well to get the win, recording 11 strikeouts.
Vernon 7, South Windsor 1. (1st game; from 6/18) Vernon defeated South Windsor 7-1 in the first game of a twinbill. Vernon was led by Kaitlyn Lajoie, Michelle Correia and Courtney Oliva. Katie Strong, Rebecca Karlins and Maddy Silverman played well for South Windsor.
South Windsor 4, Vernon 1. (2nd game; from 7/9) South Windsor rebounded in the second game, downing Vernon 4-1, behind the play of Kelly Sicord, Liz Earle and Kileigh Nassau.

Wednesday, July 22nd
West Hartford 11, Canton 4. (from 7/7) West Hartford defeated Canton in a game that was nip and tuck until West Hartford broke things open with a 7-run rally in the 6th inning. Beck Hoisl led the offense with a triple, two RBIs and three runs scored, while Sarah Allen and Cassidy Grinsell each contributed two hits. Charlotte Moller struck out six Canton batters in just three innings of work, and Lianna Pevar pitched the final four innings in relief to earn the win. Canton's Christina Cardwell pitched a great complete game, striking out six and adding an RBI-double on offense. Liz Mutch also had a hit for Canton and Amber Batan played a great game defensively at first base.
Glastonbury 4, Vernon 3. (1st game; from 7/21) Glastonbury got a great performance from pitcher Lindsey Musco, including a strikeout of the final batter with go-ahead runs on base, to top Vernon in Game #1 of a doubleheader. Catcher Liz Corporale also had a great game defensively and the game-winning RBI-single. Jackie Phillips smoked a double and single and drove in two runs and Katie Connolly had two hits and scored two runs for the winners.
Vernon 8, Glastonbury 1. (2nd game; from 7/21)
Enfield 5, Suffield 4. (from 7/7) Enfield beat Suffield 5-4 in a well-played and exciting game in which Suffield scored three runs in the top of the 7th inning to tie the game. Kacey Gifford hit a two out single to tie the score. She also pitched a solid game. Enfield was led by two doubles from Melissa Urbon and solid pitching from Dallas Fonck. The big hit came from Taylor Droney, with Sam Wilder on 3rd base with one out in the bottom of the 7th inning. Taylor hit a hard single to right center to drive in Wilder and give Enfield their first win of the season.
Thursday, July 23rd
Simsbury 14, Suffield 4. Simsbury defeated Suffield 14-4 in a wet one. Taryn Braz and Haley Tietje pitched for Simsbury. Simsbury had several hard-hit balls and the leading hitters were Taryn Braz (3 for 3 with a triple) and Haley Tietje (2 for 2 with a double). Suffield played hard and had some solid hits.

Laura Hamilton had the big hit of the day for West Hartford, a two-run double in the 4th inning to help her team pull away. Caroline Karanian had two hits and three RBI, and Becky Hoisl had two RBI and played strong defense at shortstop. Laura Yablecki had both hits for Simsbury and Jamie Kalogeros scored both Simsbury runs.

Glastonbury 6, Tolland 5. (1st Game) Glastonbury scored a run under international tie-breaker rules to turn back a srappy Tolland team in the first game of a doubleheader. Clutch hits from Jackie Phillips and Emily Bengtson keyed the comeback and Lindsey Musco settled in and struck out 11 batters in the six inning game. Amarie Sharon pitched an outstanding game for Tolland and Hayley Provost added a double and a single.
Glastonbury 9, Tolland 3. (2nd Game) Glastonbury bats came alive in the second game as Cassidy Longo and Katie Connolly had long doubles and Dana Meixell had two hits. Meixell also pitched a 3-hitter and struck out nine, while Kayla McGrail made an outstanding catch in right field. For Tolland, excellant overall play from pitcher Alayna Zevallos and shortstop Amarida Nobel.
West Hartford 6, Suffield 2. Charlotte Moller pitched a complete game without allowing a hit and received great support from her defense in leading West Hartford past Suffield. Caroline Karanian made several nice plays at second base and first base, while Molly Swanson and Noelle Ouellette each made strong plays at third. Sarah Allen had a huge night at the plate, going 3 for 3 with a triple and two RBI, and Becky Hoisl had a hit and scored two runs. Anna Boucher and Kacey Gifford both pitched well for Suffield.
Enfield 10, East Windsor 0. (1st Game)(from 7/2) Enfield topped East Windsor 10-0 in the first game of a twinbill. Sam DelConte pitched well, striking out eight. Melissa Urbon led the offense with three hits.
Enfield 11, East Windsor 6. (2nd Game) Enfield won game #2 11-6. Dallas Fonck and Lisa Lusardi pitched well and the offense was led by Sam Wilder, who had a single and a double.
Somers 1, Coventry 0 (9 innings). What a duel between Coventry and Somers, going 9 innings and using the international tie-breaker rule. For Somers, Ainsley Wilson hit a beautiful double in the 9th to drive in the winning run. Kylan O'Hearn played great defense and Teresa Garlick caught a high fly in centerfield for the game's final out. Stephanie Morin pitched an excellant game for Coventry. Their great defense held Somers at zero runs for 8 innings. Two other standouts for Coventry were Hannah Vignone, going 2 for 3, and Nicole Uccello.
Granby 4, Canton 2. Brittany Schultz and Sam Arnone combined to pitch Granby to a close win over visiting Canton. Elyse Perron and Erin Walsh collected key hits for Granby. Christina Cardwell and Sarah Allen each picked up hits and scored for Canton.
Simsbury 11, Windsor 1. Simsbury defeated Windsor 11-1 after 6 innings. The leading hitters were Jamie Kalegeros with three hits, Laura Yablecki with two, and Lindsey LoStimolo with two. Alex McDermott, Sydney Brickey and Maggie Gauthier each scored two runs. Windsor played hard as a team.
South Windsor 5, East Hartford 3.

Coventry 14, Tolland 3. (1st Game)(from 7/7) In a game resumed from a 7/7 rainout, Coventry pitcher Stephanie Morin didn't allow any baserunners for a 14-3 victory. She was assisted with hits from Jaime Harvey, Nicole Uccello and Lindsay Williams. Tolland had a great defensive play by Emily Forbush and catcher Alexis Lyonnais threw out several Coventry baserunners.
Coventry 5, Tolland 4. (2nd Game) Game two of the doubleheader was a tight game. Tolland pitcher Alayna Zevallos had a solid pitching performance with help from a single and two RBI by Kierra Laramie. But Coventry scored the go-ahead run in the top of the 5th inning to win 5-4. Nicole Uccello, who pitched the win, also collected a couple big hits. Mariah Francis played well behind the plate.
Simsbury 12, East Windsor 0. Simsbury defeated East Windsor 12-0 after five innings. Laura Yablecki had two hits and three RBIs, Haley Tietje 2 hits, Sydney Brickey 2 hits, Kelly Knisel 3 hits, 3 RBI and Jess Palmberg a hit and two runs driven in.
Enfield 7, Suffield 2. Enfield beat Suffield 7-2. Enfield received strong pitching from Dallas Fonck, Sam DelConte and Lisa Lusardi. Lusardi also added a 2-run single in the 7th inning to lead the Enfield offense. For Suffield, Allie Moreno pitched a strong game, striking out 10 batters in four innings. Julia Rolla led Suffield's offense with three hits.
