** 2006 U-14 League Tournament **
The 2006 NCGSL U-14 league tournament was held August 12th - 13th at Brookside Park in Ellington. Pool play on Saturday was with three groups of five teams determined by regular season records. The team groups were designated as Group 'A' (1-Enfield, 6-South Windsor, 7-Ellington, 12-Glastonbury and 13-Somers), Group 'B' (2-Vernon, 5-Windsor, 8-Canton, 11-Coventry and 14-Hebron) and Group 'C' (3-Suffield, 4-Manchester, 9-Granby, 10-West Hartford I and 15-West Hartford II). For Saturday pool play, games were 90 minutes long with home team determined by coin toss. A mercy rule of 8 runs after 5 innings was in effect. Tie games counted as ties.
Seeding for Sunday's single elimination was based on Saturday's results.

Teams were seeded for Sunday according to their record on Saturday. Tiebreaker was fewest runs allowed per game. Sunday games were 80 minutes long, except the final, and higher seed was home team. International tie breaker was used if the game was tied after 7 innings. The mercy rule of 8 runs after 5 innings remained in effect.

Enfield 9, Suffield 2. Regular season division rivals Enfield and Suffield met in the tournament final. Suffield's Lauren Mercik began by striking out the side in the first inning and five of the first six Enfield hitters. Enfield pitcher Courtney Cannella retire the Suffield offense in order through the first three innings. Both recorded eight strikeouts.
Enfield was first in the board as Ali Feldman led off the third with a single and stole second. Second baseman Lindsey DeFord followed with an RBI double and scored one out later on a double by shortstop Britni Siana. In the top of the fifth inning, Amanda Meunier led off with a walk and scored on a double by Cannella to put Enfield up 3-0. Suffield bounced back in the bottom half of the inning when Julie Muscarella and Angie Moskwa led off with back-to-back singles. After an out, a hit batter and a strikeout, Colleen Moroney singled to drive in Muscarella. Moskwa then scored on a wild pitch to pull Suffield within one run. In the top of the sixth, Ashley Poggie led off with a single and scored on a two-out single by Lindsey Deford.
After holding Suffield in the bottom of the sixth, Enfield ignited in the seventh inning for five runs. Britni Siana led off with a solid single, followed by an RBI-double by Amanda Meunier and an RBI-single by Natalie Kyparidis. After a groundout, Cannella singled and Katie Krogmann reached on a Suffield miscue. Poggie then lined a 2-run single followed by Ali Feldman's RBI-single that ended the Enfield scoring and put them ahead 9-2. In the bottom of the seventh, after a 1-3 putout, Julie Muscarella walked followed by an Angie Moskwa single. After a flyout to centerfield, a hit batsman loaded the bases to keep Suffield's hopes alive. The next hitter blooped a fly ball to short right field that was snagged by second baseman Lindsey DeFord with a spectacular over-the-shoulder, falling-down catch to end the game and give the Fireballs the tournament championship.
