Tolland 9, Manchester 5. Opening night of the U-16 season had Manchester visiting Tolland in a game played under the lights with Tolland coming away with the victory. Mindy Sharon led the Tolland team from the circle, hurling a complete game 3-hitter, striking out nine, with Kelli Hyjek and Meghan Ciccarelli carrying the load behind the plate. The Tolland hitters backed up this superb pitcher/catcher performance by knocking out 16 hits. Jen Duell went 3 for 3, while Amanda Drury, Marisa Husereau, Mindy Sharon, Devin Feeney (2 RBI) and Jessica Sharon all went 2 for 3. Kelli Hyjek and Kelsey Arnet each chipped in two RBIs. Amanda Landry was solid behind the plate for Manchester, while Lindsey Johnson anchored the defense from the shortstop position. Courtney Novak was superb at 1B, being involved in nine defensive outs, many unassisted.
Enfield 10, Suffield Rebels 0. The Enfield Fireballs notched a season-opening win with Kim Collins in the circle, allowing only one hit and striking out twelve. Lauren Little led the offense with two hits and made some fine defensive plays at third base. Amanda Meunier, Britni Siana and Kim Collins all hit doubles for Enfield. Suffield's Liz Breen took the loss while recording nine strikeouts. Amylia O'Neill and Kelly Kenney made some key defensive plays in centerfield and second base respectively.
East Hartford 3, Vernon 1. In a crisply played game, East Hartford used their speed to score all three runs in the first inning and held onto the lead for the win. Heather Trinks earned the win with relief help from Ali Ryan. EH catcher Amy Quattropani threw out two baserunners in the second inning to thwart Vernon's only threat. Kendra Skoly had two of Vernon's four hits. East Hartford managed only six hits off Dana Carpenter, who struck out eight while walking only three.

East Windsor 8, Simsbury 1. East Windsor defeated Simsbury as Jessica Szymanski and Heather St.Amour combined on a 3-hitter, with Karissa Parker and Lindsey Mulnite each scoring twice. Molly Waterman had a strong game for Simsbury. Danielle Work singled and scored the Simsbury run.

Somers 5, East Windsor 4. (from 6/26) In their season opener, Somers hung on to beat East Windsor 5-4 behind a complete game, 11 strikeout performance by Kacey Oswell, who also went 2 for 3 at the plate. Monica Palmer was solid behind the plate and had a key double with 2 RBIs. Also having two hits for Somers were Sarah Schulz, Courtney Horvath and Liz Mashiak. The potential tying run was thrown out at the plate on a strong throw from Chelsie Merone in centerfield to end the 6th inning. Leading East Windsor with two hits each were Lindsey Mulnite and Chelsee Parker. Karissa Parker also had a hit. Jessica Szymanski pitched well for East Windsor.
East Hartford 4, South Windsor 3. East Hartford edged South Windsor 3-2. After a shaky first inning, the game settled into a fine defensive contest. South's Emily Armstrong pitched well, keeping the East Hartford hitters off balance. She also had an RBI-single. Jill Toce had an excellant defensive game for SW as well as a game-tieing single in the top of the sixth inning. Alicia Morrison played a solid second base for South Windsor, getting lead runner outs in the third inning as East Hartford threatened to build a larger lead. Lisa Donato pitched four shutout innings and had two of the Banshees' five hits and scored a run to get the star for East Hartford. Jenna Allison's sacrifice bunt in the bottom of the sixth scored Joycelyn Gionfriddo with the game winner.
Manchester 4, Windsor 0. Danielle Leone pitched a 1-hitter, striking out 14, to lead visiting Manchester over Windsor. The Manchester offense was paced by Yomarie Rodriguez and Lindsey Johnson. Nina Varney pitched a strong game for Windsor, scattering four hits. Jess Bilotta played a solid third base, and Cristina Flynn reached base twice for Windsor.
Vernon 5, Somers 3. Vernon's bats were hot with nine hits from seven players. Dana Carpenter pitched another strong game with 8 strikeouts and only one walk. Dana also contributed to the effort with two hits and an RBI. Katie Costello had two hits and Aubrey Wank and Jocelyn White each had a hit and an RBI. Somers' Courtney Horvath pitched a strong game and added two hits on offense. Chelsie Merone led the hitters with three singles and Liz Mashiak added a pair of hits.
Enfield 3, Granby 2. In a fine defensive game, the Enfield Fireballs edged out Granby 3-2. Kim Collins went the distance for Enfield, recording seven strikeouts. Jordyn Duggan led the offense with two hits and a run scored. Mindi Koblosh turned an unassisted double play to end the game. Granby was led by some great pitching from Julie Marks (8 Ks) and Amanda Sullivan (4 Ks). Kelleanne Sullivan did a great job behind the plate, while also getting two hits and scoring a run.
West Hartford 11, Tolland 1. West Hartford's Katie Sliva and Lucy Fracasso started a 7-run 3rd inning with two nice singles. Kyla Walgren had a great defensive game and Alicia Lambert kept Tolland's bats quiet with 14 strikeouts, yielding just one hit. Jessica Sharon their only run, and Meghan Ciccarelli and Devin Feeney both had good games for Tolland.
Suffield Pink 6, Simsbury 5. Suffield Pink opened the season with a 6-5 win on the road at Simsbury. Sam Cieri got the win, pitching four strong innings, striking out six and allowing only one earned run. Angie Moskwa pitched the final three to seal the win. Sam Cieri led the offense for Pink, going 3 for 4 (triple, double, single) with 3 RBI. Barb Kaplan collected two hits (double and single). Simsbury made it close, scoring 3 runs in the bottom of the seventh, but came up just short in a very well played game.

Suffield Pink 5, Enfield 4 (8 innings). (from 6/28) Suffield defeated Enfield 5-4 in 8 innings behind a strong pitching performance from Angie Moskwa, who went the distance and allowed only three hits while striking out nine. Sam Cieri (3 for 3, 2 singles, 1 double, a walk and 2 RBI) and Michelle Niejadlik (3 for 4, 2 singles, 1 double and an RBI) powered the Pink offense. Whitney MacKay came through in the bottom of the 8th inning, driving in Lauren Mercik with a game-winning infield hit. Enfield's Kim Collins pitched wellin defeat and was helped by outstanding defense at second base by Tori Benoit. Amanda Meunier kick-started the Enfield offense in the 5th inning with a tremendous homerun.
Enfield 3, Windsor 2. The Enfield Fireballs came away with a 3-2 victory under the lights at Welch Park in Windsor. Windsor rallied for two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to tie the game. Enfield's Danielle Pelletier drove in the winning runs with two outs in the top of the 7th for Enfield. She had two hits and a run scored for the night. Kim Collins collected the win, striking out ten, while going 2 for 3 at the plate. The outstanding play of the game was turned in by Amanda Meunier, catching a fly ball in centerfield and throwing the runner from third out at the plate. For Windsor, Jenn Lattal turned in a stellar pitching performance, recording 14 Ks and issuing only one base on balls. Caitlyn Bramucci did a great job behind the plate and Cristina Flynn reached base twice, including a two-out single in the bottom of the seventh to keep Windsor alive. Kim Marris had the offensive blast of the game with a deep drive to left for a double in the second inning.
South Windsor 7, Manchester 0. South Windsor's Alyssa Wolejko pitched a 4-hit shutout with 15 strikeouts and also helped herself with two hits. Jordan Barile drove in a pair of runs and Colleen Clark was excellant on the basepaths. Melanie Berman and Jordan Purcell-Reiss led the Manchester offense and Emily Koehler had a good game defensively.
West Hartford 8, Vernon 6. Kyla Walgren led West Hartford's offense with three hits, Maureen Martucci had a triple and a double and Sarah Homgfeld had a bases-loaded double in a 4-run sixth inning. Alicia Lambert struck out 10 and walked two to earn the win. Vernon's Erin Skoly had a hit and played great defense at first base. Kendra Skoly and Brianna Weaver had hits for Vernon, who made it interesting in the bottom of the seventh inning by scoring four of their six runs.
Suffield Pink 8, East Windsor 2. Pink downed East Windsor 8-2 behind a strong pitching performance by Lauren Mercik. Mercik threw a complete game, scattering five hits and striking out six. The Pink offense was led by Jen Silva, going 4 for 4 (3 triples, 1 single, 3 RBI), and Sam Cieri (triple, 2 singles, 3 RBI). Jessica Szymanski pitched well in defeat and went 2 for 2 at the plate. Chelsee Parker played well defensively for East Windsor.

Somers 6, Suffield Rebels 1. Somers won a well-played game against the Rebels behind a 4-hit, 7 strikeout complete game from Courtney Horvath. Somers scored four runs in the 4th inning with key hits from Liz Mashiak and Monica Palmer. Kacey Oswell and Monica Palmer were both 2 for 2 at the plate and walked once. Brittney Irish chipped in with a hit. Monica Palmer threw out a runner attempting to steal second to end the Rebels' rally where they scored their only run to end the game. For the Rebels, Kelly Kenney reached base four times and Amylia O'Neill played a good defensive game.
East Windsor 8, Granby 2. East Windsor defeated Granby as Dionna Crosby doubled and tripled to highlight the offense. Lindsay Mulnite had a solid game and Jillian Cote had a strong game behind the plate. Granby scored their two runs in the 7th inning with Kelleanne Salazar and Jessica Threadgill scoring on Stephany Hebert's long double.
Windsor 3, West Hartford 1. After opening with two tough losses, Windsor recorded its first win of the season, winning 3-1 at West Hartford. Jenn Lattal pitched a 2-hit complete game, striking out nine. Alicia Lambert pitched tough for West Hartford, also striking out nine. Leading the offense for Windsor was Kim Marris, with a hard-hit double and a homerun blast over everything in left field. Melissa Nolan also doubled and Jessica Bilotta added two hits for Windsor. West Hartford's offense came from Nicole Malenfant and Sarah Homgfeld with solid hits on the night.
Simsbury 13, Enfield 2. Molly Williams, Kathleen Conway and Kristen Sloan combined for 14 strikeouts as Simsbury downed visiting Enfield 13-2. Kathleen Conway also led the Simsbury hitters, going 3 for 3 and scoring three runs. Lauren Little had a pair of hits, including a double, and scored a run for Enfield. Jordyn Duggan drove in a run and scored the other Enfield run.

East Windsor 13, Suffield Rebels 5. (from 6/30) East Windsor improved their record to 3-2, defeating the Rebels 13-5. Kelsey Mocadlo (right) went 3 for 4 with a 2-run triple to pace the offense. Lindsey Mulnite and Alisha Griswold each had two hits. For the Rebels, Casey Gifford set the table in the lead-off spot and Kayla Nadeau scored a run and played well defensively.
Simsbury 6, Suffield Rebels 1. Molly Waterman had two hits to lead Simsbury past the Rebels. Co-captains Abbey Williams and Dani Work both scored runs. Sam Bieleski and Kayla Nadeau both had two hits for Suffield. Sam also played outstanding defense. Liz Breen pitched well, striking out five.
Manchester 4, Granby 1. Melanie Berman pitched a good game for Manchester, scattering five hits and striking out seven. The Manchester offense was paced by Amanda Landry and Emily Koehler. Amy Rapuano pitched well for Granby and Becky Sales anchored the defense, making an unassisted double play. Amanda Sullivan led the Granby offense with two hits.
Windsor 9, East Hartford 1. Windsor scattered 11 hits to score 9 runs, defeating East Hartford 9-1. Tracey Sanko returned to the mound for the Ravens with a 13-strikeout, 3-hit performance for Windsor. Kim Marris led the offense with 3 hits and a strong night behind the plate catching, credited with throwing out a runner. Jessica Bilotta also had a three hit night and Cristina Flynn a two-hit outing for Windsor. For East Hartford, Amy Quattropani led the offense with two hits. Allison Ryan had te other East hit. Heather Trinks pitched well as well as playing a strong defensive game.
Tolland 4, Vernon 3. Pitchers Mindy Sharon from Tolland and Dana Carpenter from Vernon took a well-pitched defensive duel into the 7th inning with Tolland leading 2-1, Dana had 13 strikeouts, allowing 6 hits and one walk for Vernon while Mindy held the Vernon batters to 3 hits, 3 walks and 3 strikeouts, with strong defensive support from Jessica Sharon, Devin Feeney, Marisa Husereau, Kelli Hyjek and Christine Vareed. In the top of the 7th, Vernon's Aubrey Wank reached on a dropped third strike and was moved over to 2B on a well placed bunt by Ashley Bloxam, and bases were then loaded with a walk to Kendra Skoly. A walk to Danielle Baker tied the score 2-2. With no outs, Mindy Sharon got the next two batters out on popups to Christine Vareed, but Vernon head coach Rick Carpenter called the delayed steal of home and Ashley Bloxam executed it perfectly for a 3-2 Vernon lead. In the bottom of the 7th, with one out, Mindy Sharon hit a clean single to left. On a classic hit and run play, Mindy advanced to third on the ground out to second by Christine Vareed. In the play of the game, Jess McKenty layed down a perfect 2-out bunt up the first base line, reaching safely and scoring Mindy to tie the game 3-3. Alyssa May took the free pass, and Jen Duell ended the game with a sharp single to left field
Enfield 3, East Windsor 1. In a game lasting just 65 minutes, the Enfield Fireballs, behind the twelve strikeout performance of Kim Collins, defeated East Windsor 3-1. Danielle Pelletier scored the first Enfield run in the second inning on a two-out single by Shawna Lothian. East tied the game in the 6th when Heather St.Amour singled and later scored on a passed ball. Enfield came right back with two in the bottom of the frame. Britni Siana singled to start the inning and with one out was moved to third on a Megan Chipman single. Kristen Flaherty then followed with a bunt that eventually allowed Siana to score. Kari West then followed with a perfect sacrifice bunt down the first base line scoring Chipman. In the top half of the seventh, Collins retired the side in order, striking out two. Jessica Szymanski pitched a great game for East Windsor, scattering five hits and striking out four.
West Hartford 14, South Windsor 0. West Hartford jumped out early with three runs in the first and played solid defense to hold South Windsor scoreless. Alicia Lambert went the distance to earn the win with 15 strikeouts, while giving up just 3 hits. The offense came from Heather Gionfriddo and Lucy Fracasso who both had a pair of hits. South Windsor's Sara Cherepinsky had a double and Susan Orsini had a triple to lead the offense. Emily Armstrong piched a good game for South Windsor.

Granby 12, Simsbury 6. Granby defeated Simsbury 12-6 between the raindrops at Granby High School. Led by Stephany Hebert (3-3,HR,4RBIs) and Kim Winalski (2-2,2B,BB), Granby demonstrated a high powered offense that collected 14 hits. Starting pitcher Amanda Sullivan got the win and Julie Marks came in for relief in the 5th inning to preserve the lead. Simsbury began the scoring by pushing two runs across the plate in the first inning, but Granby came back with three of their own in the bottom half of the inning. Both teams struggled defensively at times but also made many big plays in the field. Dani Work (2 for 3) and Molly Waterman eached scored twice for Simsbury and Abbey Williams played well defensively at first base.
West Hartford 4, Manchester 3. In a well played defensive game, West Hartford came away with the win with offense supplied by Sarah Homgfeld, Nicole Malenfant and Vanessa Morales. Alicia Lambert kept Manchester's bat off balance for most of the night to get the win. Manchester's Jordan Purcell-Riess had a nice hit and Ariel Diaz also had a hit. Danielle Leone pitched a strong came but came up just short.
South Windsor 5, Tolland 4. South Windsor downed Tolland on the road as Jill Toce collected two hits and was hit by a pitch to reach base a third time. She also played well defensively behind the plate, as did Alicia Morrison (2B) and Marianne Specker (SS). Christine Vareed led Tolland's offense with her skilled bunting. Marisa Husereau and Alex D'Aloisio also had good nights at the plate.

South Windsor 14, Suffield Rebels 9. (from 6/28) South Windsor beat the Suffield Rebels 14-9. Susan Orsini went 2 for 5 with a double. Catcher Jill Toce was 3 for 5 with a walk and a HBP and threw out two attempted basestealers. Alyssa Wolejko pitched a complete game, striking out twelve. She went 2 for 3 with a double, triple and two walks to help her own cause. Kayla Nadeau led the Rebel hitters with a single and a triple. Kylie Gifford and Sam Bieleski both played well defensively.
Suffield Pink 5, Granby 1. (from 6/26) Suffield Pink defeated Granby 5-1 in a very well played game by both teams. Angie Moskwa got the win, pitching seven strong innings, allowing just 3 hits and striking out three. Mel Chapman stayed hot at the plate with two singles and two runs scored and Sam Cieri continued her solid hitting, going 3 for 4 (2 singles,double,2RBIs). Granby's Julie Marks pitched well in defeat, striking out seven Pink batters. Amanda Sullivan played flawlessly at first base and Paige Letendre and Amy Evans were solid on the left side of the infield.
South Windsor 3, Windsor 2. (from 6/26) South Windsor won their third straight, edging Windsor 3-2. Alyssa Wolejko continued her stellar pitching with another complete game, striking out nine. She helped herself with a hit and a run scored. Susan Orsini went 2 for 2 with a double and 2 RBIs. Alicia Morrison played great defense at second base, throwing to the plate to turn a double play and erasing the potential tieing run in the 6th inning. Jen Lattal pitched a ggod game for Windsor, recording 10 strikeouts in seven innings. Caitlin Bramucci made some great catches playing outstanding defense and Jessica Bilotta did well at the plate, laying down some critical sacrifice bunts.
Enfield 7, Somers 4 (8 innings). Enfield slipped past Somers on an eighth inning walk-off three run homer by Megan Chipman. A seesaw battle throughout, Somers scored first in the second inning as Chelsie Merone led off with a walk, stole second and then scored on an errant throw. Enfield pitcher then struck out the side to prevent further damage. The score remained the same until the bottom of the fifth when Amanda Meunier led off with a triple and scored on Natalie Kyparidis' double. Danielle Pelletier walked and Britni Siana then blasted a homerun over the centerfield fence to put Enfield ahead 4-1. The score stayed that way until the top of the 7th when, with one out, Kacey Oswell lined her second hit of the game to begin the comeback rally. Courtney Horvath then followed with a slap hit to third that Lauren Little made an outstanding attempt at but Horvath just beat the throw. After the next batter was retired, Merone followed with an RBI-single. Somers capped their scoring drive with a bases-clearing double off the bat of Kara McGuane. In the bottom of the eighth in the tie-breaker, with one out Little singled followed by Chipman's blast. Kim Collins notched 13Ks for Enfield while Kacey Oswell and Courtney Horvath combine for eleven for Somers.

Somers 4, Granby 1. (from 6/28) Somers edged visiting Granby in a well-played game by both teams by scoring three runs in the 5th inning to break a 1-1 tie. Courtney Horvath led off the 5th by getting hit by a pitch, followed by a double by Monica Palmer to put runners at second and third. Chelsie Merone followed with a 2-run triple and then scored on an overthrow at third base. Courtney Horvath picked up the win, pitching five strong innings, striking out six. Kacey Oswell came in for two innings of relief, allowing one hit a striking out two. Kara McGuane, Nicole Vamvilus and Megan Steidler each contributed with hits and played great defensively. For Granby, Amy Evans and Julie Marks shared the pitching and combined to strike out five. Leading the offense was Steph Hebert, who went 3 for 4 at the plate.

Granby 8, Suffield Pink 5. Granby defeated Suffield Pink in the sweltering heat by a score of 8-5. Granby started the scoring in the top of the second inning after Chrissy Blake smashed a double to left and later scored on a passed ball. Suffield took the lead with two runs in the bottom of the inning and added two more in the third. Granby roared back to gain the lead for good with a 6-run 4th inning highlighted by Blake collecting 2 RBIs with a bases-loaded single. Jessie Threadgill played well defensively at shortstop for Granby. Special appreciation goes to both team's catchers, Emily Droney (Suffield) and Courtney McGuire (Granby) for playing well behind the plate wearing full protective gear in the 90 degree heat. Also, thanks to umpire Mike Almeida who also withstood the heat in full gear.
South Windsor 9, East Hartford 8. South Windsor won their fourth straight game, edging East Hartford 9-8. Marianne Specker went 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs and a run scored. Deidre Clymer made some nice defensive plays in right field and also drove in the game-winning run in the 6th inning. Sara Fulton played well defensively in left field and at second base, stopping an offensive threat by East Hartford in the 7th inning. East Hartford's Lynne Foran had three hits, including a double and a triple. Jenna Allison and Joycelyn Gionfriddo both went 2 for 3 and scored runs.
Windsor 6, Manchester 5. The Windsor Ravens had to battle from behind to earn a 6-5 win at Manchester. Windsor rallied to score two runs in the top of the seventh inning against a stubborn Manchester defense to pull out the win. Nina Varney came on in relief and pitched four scoreless 3-hit innings to earn the win. Windsor's offense was provided by Rebecca Hopkins' two hits and Kim Marris' double. Kim Marris also played adept defensively at catcher with a strong throw out of an attempted steal. Melissa Wilhelm also returned to the Ravens infield to strengthen its defense. Manchester had a strong defensive effort behind the plate from Amanda Landry, who caught the complete game. Courtney Novak provided the offense with three hits and Melanie Berman pitched well for Manchester.
Enfield 13, Suffield Rebels 2. Enfield downed the Rebels led by the hot hitting of Jordyn Duggan, going 3 for 3 with 3 runs scored. Megan Chipman, Amanda Meunier and Danielle Pelletier all had homeruns for Enfield. Kari West came up with a tremendous double play (9-3-2) to stop a Suffield rally in the 4th inning. For Suffield, Kayla Nadeau was 2 for 2 at the plate with a run scored. Kelly Kenney played well defensively with a couple of great catches at second base.
Simsbury 10, Vernon 4. Simsbury defeated Vernon 10-4 as co-captain Dani Work delivered a bases-loaded triple to highlight a 6-run 3rd inning for the winners. Co-captain Abbey Williams scored twice and Emma Lavigne had a hit and scored a run. Dana Carpenter pitched a good game for Vernon, striking out four. Danielle Baker went 2 for 3 , scoring a run, and Jessica Philbrick tripled and scored a run.
West Hartford 16, Tolland 2. West Hartford's offense was a team effort with everyone contributing. The battery of Alicia Lambert and Nicole Malenfant teamed up to hold Tolland to 4 hits and 2 runs, striking out ten batters. Jessica Sharon had a hit for Tolland and Meghan Ciccarelli and Sarah Gallichant both had good games.

Suffield Pink 8, Enfield 4. Pink defeated Enfield 8-4 behind another solid pitching outing for Angie Moskwa (7 innings, 6 hits, 6 Ks). Pink played outstanding team defense led by 1B Kalleigh Peterson, who made a spectacular double play, Mel Chapman, who made numerous scoops at 3B, and Emily Droney, who again was tremendous behind the plate. Michele Niejadlik powered the offense, going 3-4 (2 singles,1 double,2 runs,1 RBI). Enfield jumped out to an early 3-0 lead behind the excellant hitting of Amanda Meunier's 3-3 (single,double,homerun,4 RBI), but couldn't hold off Pink's explosive bats that came to life in the 4th inning when, with two outs, they rallied to score 5 runs on 5 hits. Somers 12, Granby 5. Somers beat Granby 12-5, scoring nine runs in the 2nd inning with key hits from Sarah Schulz, Courtney Horvath and Monica Palmer. Kacey Oswell pitched a complete game, striking out ten batters. Also hitting for Somers were Chelsie Merone, Nicole Vamvilis, Jessica Estanislau and Kacey Oswell. Julie Marks pitched well in relief for Granby and Courtney McGuire played well behind the plate. Amy Rapuano had a double in the bottom of the 7th inning.
East Hartford 12, Tolland 2. East Hartford downed Tolland 12-2 on an evening when all the pitchers had trouble throwing strikes. Ashley Appel and Joycelyn Gionfriddo each had two hits and two RBIs for the Banshees. EH catcher Amy Quattropani threw out two more runners attempting to steal. Alyssa May reached base safely all four times she batted and scored a run. Both Tolland and East Hartford did not look their sharpest - too much beach time or not enough. Who's to say ?
Windsor 9, Suffield Rebels 5. Windsor continued to play well on the road by defeating the Suffield Rebels 9-5, utilizing Nina Varney, Melissa Nolan and Jenn Lattal in the pitching rotation. The three pitchers combined for 11 strikeouts. Caitlin Bramucci, Kim Marris, Jenn Lattal and Josi Myers all had two hits on the night for Windsor. Liz Breen pitched well for the Rebels, not allowing the Windsor hitters to have a big inning all night. Kayla Nadeau provided the offense for Suffield with a two-hit game, while Kathryn Kenney shut down the left side of the infield with a strong night defensively at shortstop.
West Hartford 6, Vernon 0. West Hartford had timely hits to score their six runs. Defensively, Kyla Walgren and Heather Gionfriddo had good games for West Hartford, and Alicia Lambert held Vernon to only one hit to earn the shutout. Vernon's Mary Falkowski had a double. Jessica Philbrick and Brianna Weaver also played well.

Manchester 4, South Windsor 3. (from 7/19) Anna Piggott pitched a solid game, striking out nine, as Manchester defeated South Windsor. The offense was led by Yomarie Rodriguez (3 hits), Anna Piggott (2 hits) and Lindsey Johnson, who scored two runs. Emily Armstrong was solid in the circle for South. Jordan Barile played strong defense, while Jill Toce paced the South Windsor offense with two hits.
Suffield Pink 6, Somers 0. Pink defeated Somers in a well played game by both teams. Lauren Mercik got the shutout win, going seven innings, allowing only 3 hits and striking out five. The offense was powered by Emily Droney (3-4,run,RBI). Barb Kaplan and Michele Niejadlik played outstanding defense at shortstop and second base respectively. Kacey Oswell pitched well for Somers, going the distance and striking out six. Chelsie Merone and Monica Palmer were solid at the plate.
South Windsor 5, Vernon 3. (from 7/7) Visiting South Windsor edged Vernon behind Marianne Specker's two doubles and good defensive play. Alicia Morrison had two hits, one being an outstanding bunt that brought home two runs. Rachel Clymer also had a good game offensively. Lindsay Gondek pitched well for Vernon. Mary Falkowski had two hits and Kendra Skoly also had a good game at the plate.
Windsor 15, Tolland 2. (from 6/28) The Windsor Ravens won their third straight road game this week, defeating Tolland 15-2. Jenn Lattal continued to silence the opponents' bats, pitching a 13-strikeout complete game. The Windsor attack was led by Jessica Bilotta (3 hits), Melissa Marris (2 hits) and Rebecca Hopkins, who had a double. Jodi Myers provided the big defensive play of the night at second base. Tolland's Jessica Sharon had a strong two-hit night offensively and Kelsey Arnet looked good at the plate. Mindy Sharon worked hard in the circle, keeping Tolland in the game early.
Simsbury at West Hartford (from 6/27) - postponed by rain.
Suffield 12, Tolland 2. (from 7/7) Pink downed Tolland 12-2 with an all-around strong team performance. Angie Moskwa and Sam Cieri combined for the win, allowing only two hits and striking out eleven. The offense was led by Whitney MacKay, going 3-4 (a single, 2 doubles, a walk, 3 RBIs and 3 runs scored) and Barb Kaplan 3-5 (a single, 2 doubles, 2 RBI and 2 runs scored). Tolland's Arianna Ciccarelli was outstanding in centerfield, making several running catches, and Christine Vareed pitched solid in relief, recording 3 strikeouts. Kayla Gosse delivered offensively for Tolland in the sixth, crushing a double out to left field,driving in a run, and later scoring on a fielder's choice.
Vernon 4, Windsor 2. (from 7/12) Vernon edged Windsor 4-2 as Jocelyn White had a solid game at the plate, going 3-3 with a double. She was also strong on defense at third base. Lindsey Gondek also helped on offense, going 2-3 with two RBIs. Dana Carpenter pitched a complete game for Vernon, striking out four and walking only one. Jen Olander led the Windor offense with a double and an RBI. Kim Marris also had a hit and was strong in the field. Nina Varney pitched 4 solid innings and helped her cause with an RBI.
West Hartford 6, East Hartford 4. (from 6/28)
East Windsor 18, Suffield Rebels 8. Jessica Szymanski led the East Windsor offense with three hits. Karissa Parker hit a 2-run double and scored three runs. Jillian Cote had a single and a double. The Rebels received a strong defensive game from Kathryn Kenney. Kelly Kenney and Caitlin Brault paced the Rebel offense.
Enfield 9, Granby 0. Enfield was led by the strong battery of pitcher Kim Collins and catcher Megan Chipman. Kim struck out 12 and assisted on 3 putouts, while Megan had two doubles and two runs scored. Kristin Flaherty had a 2-RBI single for Enfield. Granby had Julie Marks (8Ks) and Amy Rapuano (5Ks) splitting the pitching duties. Courtney McGuire and Paige Letendre had the sole hits for Granby.
Vernon 13, South Windsor 6. Vernon's bats came alive with 16 hits, two for extra bases. Jocelyn White continued her hot streak, going 2-4 with a double and 3 RBIs. Dana Carpenter, coming in for relief in the top of the 6th inning, struck out three and helped her cause by going 4-4 at the plate. Lindsey Gondek struck out 11 through 5 innings and went 2-4 at the plate. Lauren Morency was also strong on offense with two singles for the night. Emily Armstrong pitched well for South, striking out seven and going 3-4 with a double at the plate. Sara Cherepinsky added to the offense with a triple, single and RBI. Susan Orsini went 3-4 with 2 RBIs.
Manchester 8, East Hartford 0. Danielle Leone threw a gem for Manchester, allowing only one hit and striking out ten, and the team played solid defense behind her. The Manchester offense was led by Leone, who helped her cause with 4 hits, Kristin Gentilcore (2 hits) and Melanie Berman, who had two hits including a triple. Overall, a very solid team victory for Manchester.
Windsor 5, West Hartford 1. The Windsor Ravens returned home after five straight road games to defeat West Hartford 5-1, behind a strong, complete game, 2-hit & 7 strikeout performance by Jenn Lattal. The Windsor offense was led by Jenna Olander, with a bases-clearing 3-run double. Also for the Windsor offense, Melissa Nolan had a single and a double, Jenn Lattal doubled and Rebecca Hopkins had a base hit. West Hartford's Kristen Montano and Vanessa Morales provided two hits on the night. Nicole Malenfant stayed tough at the plate, reaching base twice.
Somers 11, Tolland 0. Somers' pitcher, Kacey Oswell, threw a one-hitter, striking out 10, to shut out visiting Tolland 11-0. She had a perfect game thru 4 2/3 innings before giving up a walk to Sarah Gallichant. The only other batter to reach base was Brittany DeCarli, who led off the 6th inning with a single. Kacey had two hits and an RBI, one of the hits was a leadoff double in the first inning, and scored the game's first run. Brittany Irish added to the offense in the 3rd inning with a double, driving in two more runs for Somers. Monica Palmer was solid behind the plate. She also had a single and scored two runs. For Tolland, Christine Vareed pitched well in relief.
Suffield Pink 1, Simsbury 0. Suffield Pink downed Simsbury 1-0 in a very well played game by both teams. Angie Moskwa got the shutout win, going seven strong innings, striking out two and allowing only three hits. Emily Droney got the 1-out game winning hit in the bottom of the seventh that drove in Sam Cirei, who had led off the inning with a single.
Manchester 13, Enfield 3. Manchester got back to the .500 mark with their 3rd straight victory. Anna Piggott was solid in the circle, scattering three hits and striking out eight. She was solid at the plate as well, going 2-3 with a double and a single. Kelly Gentilcore had 3 hits and was solid in right field. The offensive star for Manchester was Ariel Diaz, who went 4-5 with a double and a homerun that easily cleared the fence. Kari West played a good game for Enfield, chipping in with a single and playing solid defense. Tori Benoit was valiant in her relief appearance for Enfield.
Windsor 13, East Hartford 1. Jenn Lattal led Windsor over East Hartford 13-1 with another stellar performance, pitching a complete 10-strikeout, 4-hit game. The Windsor offensive standouts with three hits on the night were Jessica Bilotta, Melissa Nolan and Rebecca Hopkins. Melissa Wilhelm and Amy Hansen also had two hits on the night. Kim Marris arrrived late in the game and contributed with a homerun. East Hartford's Lisa Donato provided their offense with two hits and Sarah D'Attilio worked the basepath to score the only East Hartford run. Joycelyn Gionfriddo made the defensive play of the night at shortstop.
Vernon 11, Tolland 1. Dana Carpenter pitched a strong game for Vernon with 8 strikeouts and only one walk. She also helped herself on offense, going 3-3 on the night. Aubrey Wank had a good night, going 2-3 and strong running the diamond. Danielle Baker was also solid on the bases and at the plate, going 2 for 3. Jessica Sharon pitched well for Tolland with 8 strikeouts and a single on the offensive side. Alyssa May and Alyssa Valenti also had hits on the evening.
Suffield Pink 7, East Windsor 6. Suffield Pink defeated East Windsor 7-6 in a very exciting game. Suffield jumped out to an early 5-1 lead only to see East Windsor score 5 runs in the bottom of the 6th to take a 6-5 lead. But in the top of the 7th with two out, Jen Silva stepped to the plate and delivered with the hit of the night, going over the outfielder's head for a 2-run triple to put Pink back on top for the win. Sam Cirei got the win, going the distance and striking out three.
Simsbury 5, Somers 2. Simsbury defeated Somers 5-2 as Kathleen Conway earned the win, striking out thirteen. She also drove in Sean Glenn with the deciding run of the game. Grace Amato had 3 hits to lead the Simsbury offense. Monica Palmer had a double and drove in both of the Somers runs. Kacey Oswell pitched well with five strikeouts and also got a hit.

Suffield Pink 15, South Windsor 0. Suffield Pink defeated South Windsor 15-0 in 5 innings in a very difficult game for South Windsor. Due to the inclement weather, South had only seven players show up, but to their credit they gave it their best. Pink just seemed to hit the ball where they weren't and came away with a very unsatisfying win. Hats off to the coaching staff and the ladies of South Windsor for competing in what was a very difficult situation.

West Hartford 9, East Hartford 1. (from 7/28) West Hartford played solid defense, everybody contributed on offense with timely hitting and good baserunning. East Hartford's Marchary Davis had two nice catches in centerfield. Jenna Allison had a nice hit for East Hartford.
Enfield 6, East Windsor 2. Enfield defeated East Windsor behind the strong pitching of Kim Collins (10Ks) and shortstop Jordyn Duggan's six assists. Tori Benoit and Megan Chipman had doubles, while Britni Siana tripled. Kelsey Mocadlo and Lindsay Mulnite each singled and scored the two runs for East. Shortstop Karissa Parker and catcher Ginger Starvish were defensive standouts, combining on a couple of plays to shut down the Enfield offense.
Suffield Pink 1, Somers 0. Suffield Pink defeated Somers 1-0 in an error-free 55 minute gem of a game. Angie Moskwa got the win, going the distance, allowing only 3 hits and striking out seven. The game's only run came in the bottom of the 5th and was set up by a perfectly executed hit-and-run. Taylor Bartini led off the inning with a walk and Sam Cieri hit a ground ball to second on a 2-1 count with Bartini on the move. She never slowed and went from first to third , sliding safely under the tag. Barb Kaplan went 0-2 in the count, then delivered with the game winning RBI, grounding out hard to first base, scoring Bartini. Somers' Courtney Horvath was outstanding on the mound, allowing only two hits and striking out three. Kacey Oswell, Megan Steidler and Jessica Estanislau each singled for Somers.
West Hartford 1, Manchester 0. In a well played game by both teams, West Hartford came out on top, nipping Manchester 1-0. The only run of the game came on Lauren Towers' double with Maureen Martucci on third base with one out in the 5th inning. West Hartford was solid on defense and Alicia Lambert gave up just one hit, struck out ten and walked two for a complete game shutout. Manchester's Jennifer Aronne played solid defense and Amanda Landry had a good game catching. Danielle Leone gave up three hits, walked one and struck out nine.
Windsor 2, Vernon 1. Windsor and Vernon battled all evening tied at one in a hard-played game until Windsor was able to drive in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh behind Kim Marris' double off the fence followed by the game winning base hit by Tracey Sanko. Sanko pitched a great complete 5-hit, seven strikeout game against a tough Vernon batting order. Amy Hansen and Caroline Aldrich came up with big defensive plays for Windsor. Dana Carpenter and Lindsey Gondek were strong all night, splitting the pitching for Vernon, allowing eight Windsor hits. Jocelyn White played a solid 3rd base defensively and also did very well at the plate.
South Windsor 12, Tolland 5. South Windsor downed Tolland 12-5 behind Emily Armstrong's 8-strikeout complete game. She also went 3-3 with a walk and a double on offense. Marianne Specker went 2-3 with a homerun and a walk and Candace Clark led the defenders with a strong game at shortstop. Jessica Sharon took the loss for Tolland, and went 3-4 with 3 runs scored on offense. Alyssa Valenti went 2-4 with a double and a run scored and Kelsey Arnet had a pair of hits and a run scored.
East Hartford 7, Granby 6. East Hartford managed only two hits against Julie Marks but somehow won the game. Granby had twelve hits and scored three runs in the bottom of the 7th inning to narrowly miss a victory. Becky Sales and Leighton Conley both had three hits for Granby, but the big blow was a 2-run double by Amy Rapuano in the thrilling 7th inning. East Hartford executed a bases-loaded suicide squeeze play with Lynne Foran droppong a perfect bunt, scoring Jenna Allison from third base. Heather Trinks relieved an injured Ali Ryan and kept the Granby hitters off balance until 7th inning rally. The difference in the game was East Hartford putting the ball in play and using their baserunning skills to manufacture runs.
Suffield Rebels 12, Simsbury 5.
Somers 15, East Windsor 3. (from 7/17) On a hot night in Somers, the home team beat visiting East Windsor 15-3 behind a complete game, 12 strikeout performance from Kacey Oswell. Leading the offensive for Somers were Chelsie Merone (single,triple,RBI), Kacey Oswell (single,double,RBI), Monica Palmer (single,double,2 RBI), Kara McGuane (triple), Jessica Estanislau (2 singles) and Brittany Irish (single). For East Windsor, Jillian Cote went 3-3 and drove in two runs. Lindsey Mulnite went 2-3 and drove in the other East run.
Manchester 4, Vernon 3 (9 innings). (from 7/28) It seems like whenever Manchester and Vernon get together, 7 innings is not enough. In a well-played game, Manchester bested Vernon in 9 innings. Manchester's Anna Piggott pitched well for seven innings in the heat before giving way to Danielle Leone, who got the victory. Amanda Landry was strong behind the plate, going all nine innings for Manchester. The Manchester offense was led by Ariel Diaz, with 3 hits. Lindsay Gondek pitched a strong game for Vernon. The Vernon offense was paced by Lauren Morency and Jessica Philbrick.
West Hartford 2, South Windsor 0. (from 7/26) In a well-played game by both teams, West Hartford came out on top with good baserunning by Jenn Matthews to score the first run, then a double by Nicole Malenfant with a runner on second to score the second run and that's all that West Hartford neede to win. Alicia Lambert pitched another great game this week, giving up two hits and two walks, striking out 12, and recording her second shutout in a row. South Windsor's Jen Hunt went 2 for 2 and both Candace Clark and Maeve Neiswanger played well defensively.
Suffield Pink 34, Suffield Rebels 0. (from 7/12)
Manchester 21, Tolland 6. Manchester got the best of Tolland in a very sluggish game. Kristin Gentilcore and Jenn Aronne combined for the win. Melanie Berman led the offense for Manchester, going 3-3 with a walk and three runs scored. Both teams deserve a lot a credit for battling the sweltering conditions and playing on. Sincere appreciation to the game's umpires, Richard Meth and Al Boyajian for also persevering through the heat and humidity.
South Windsor 1, Windsor 0. In the third 1-0 game of the week in the U-16 division, South Windsor edged Windsor with Emily Armstrong getting the win, fanning 7 Windsor batters. Batterymate Jen Hunt had a great game defensively and Alicia Morrison's alert baserunning enabled her to score the only run of the game. Tracey Sanko pitched a no-hitter for Windsor, but had to take the loss. Her catcher, Kim Marris, also had a superb game on defense. Melissa Wilhelm doubled but was left on base.
Simsbury 6, Granby 3. Simsbury's Kathleen Conway struck out 12 enroute to earning the win. Molly Waterman had a hit and scored two runs and Natalie Welsh had a hit and scored a run. Simsbury led the entire game but Granby scored three in the 6th inning to pull within 4-3. Kristen Hammick had her first hit of the season and Amy Rapuano had a double. Leighton Conley also had a hit and great defensive game.

Lindsey Mulnite had a pair of hits and Dionna Crosby played a great defensive game. Paige Letendre had Granby's lone hit and Kelleanne Salazar had a strong game behind the plate.
